This probably seems like an odd question but here goes...

my brother wants to use his points for a 2 bedroom villa at SSR (for him, wife, 2 kids, MIL and aunt). Ideally what they want is to have a 2 bedroom lock-off with the studio portion being smoking and the other half non-smoking. I don't really think this is possible :confused3 but I am sure some of my fellow DISers will know better than I.

If this isn't possible is there anyway to know how close together a no-smoking 1 bedroom and smoking studio could be? Are certain buildings smoking or non-smoking? :scratchin

I am pretty sure the smoking/nonsmoking rooms are done "by buildings", and I am absolutely sure that two bedrooms are never divided in the way you describe. You can request the two buildings to be close together when making your ressie, and then request again at check-in, but you know they never guarantee things like that. Maybe you will get lucky!

Since requests can never be guaranteed, I would just save the points and book a two-bedroom villa. It's not THAT much trouble to go outside to smoke.

We just returned from SSR and the building we were in had both non-smoking and smoking rooms. We actually got stuck with a smoking room, but I am happy to report that we couldn't even tell!

To your first question...I certainly hope not.
To your second question...I certainly hope so.

I am surprised by another posters comment that they were in a building that had smoking and non-smoking rooms???? Other resorts have specific buildings for smoking. They call them smoking optional because you don't HAVE to smoke in them, but they are NOT non-smoking rooms.

To answer your question, what I was trying to relay is that we recently stayed in the Paddocks section of SSR. Alot of rooms in the building had the no smoking sign on their door, however, ours did not. That leads me to believe that we were in a smoking optional room. I believe your post is just a play on words. (No bash intended by that comment.)

I'm with you there!

This is just part of the drama of my brothers vacation. I told him to just book the non-smoking room and make his MIL deal with it but that just doesn't seem good enough for him. Its just another thing for him to complain about... and for some reason he thinks its all my fault :lmao:
