We have a 2 bed booked for January. The confimation letter states that it's a dedicated 2 bed. Our party consists of just 2 couples, so would we be better off going for a lock-off? From the photos I've seen, the second bedroom in the dedicated unit has 2 queen beds, rather than the bed plus sofa-bed in the studio (we're familiar with the studios having stayed in one in August). Am I right in thinking that not all the dedicated units have a balcony off the second bedroom?

If we decide we'd prefer a lock-off, do we need to amend the booking, or can we just request that at check-in?

Not sure about the room configs but if you ask to change room at checkin I am sure I have read they charge a $25 fee and the swap may not even be possible, best to ask in advance.

We stayed in a dedicated 2 bed in January and the only balcony was off the living room. Neither of the 2 bedrooms had a balcony.

The dedicated and lockoff 2Bs are technically different room classes. At the time the reservation is made you are assigned to one or the other, and that's what should be given at check-in. To change, make sure you contact Member Services (as far in advance as possible) and see if the other room class is available.

Here are some of the differences between the two configurations:

Dedicated:
Two queen beds in second bedroom
Extra closet space in second bedroom
No kitchenette in second bedroom
One thermostat for entire unit
One balcony
One telephone line (rings all phones)
One entrance

Lockoff:
Queen bed plus sofabed in second bedroom
Kitchenette in second bedroom
Two thermostats (one for second bedroom, other for the rest of the unit)
Two balconies (one off of the living room and the other off of the 2nd bedroom)
Two telephone lines
Two entrances

Hope that helps.

One more from me - sorry -

Is it the same for BCV? I am reserving 2 BDR and someone recommended getting the dedicated. I am not sure if we are going as a family or treating my dd and 3 friends for her "16" birthday next year.

Thanks.

In BCV there are 2 sorts of dedicated...one type has 2Q's and the other has 1 Q and 1 sofa bed. Each is a type that you reserve when you book the ressie.
