We are leaving on Friday for DL and my concern about renting a stroller from an outside company is it getting stolen and then we are out of luck. Anyone have any suggestions? Is strollers getting stolen a huge problem? Ive read on some of the threads about it.

Thanks!
Jessica

There's a place called Travel Babees that some on here have used, but I haven't heard a ton about it. Also, I can't get anyone there to answer my email....

I don't know about DLR, but I know we've never had a stroller issue at WDW. I think it's much more common for a DLR issued stroller to get snagged. It's also recommended that you personalize your own stroller in some way. I have a scarf I always tie on the handle, and sometimes I take a clean diaper and fold it up in such a way that it looks used, then put it in the seat. :)

I don't know what your situation is, but 1) you may want to have a stroller for the airport, and thus having your own would be good; 2) if you have a car, you could hit a Target or the like and buy a cheap stroller (Target is close to DLR); or 3) buy a used one at a local consignment shop that you care nothing about in the event it gets gone.

We just used Travel Babees. They are a little slow via email but are GREAT on the phone. They are really friendly when you talk to them. I was a little worried about the expense to replace the stroller if it was stolen too BUT the I priced out the stroller we rented from them and it was $175 new so I figured worst case senerio we would be out that much. I am REALLY glad we rented because we simply would not have had room for the stroller in the rental car with all our luggage - for the airport we used a folding back pack carrier which was small enough to be taken as carry on.

And see, I need to use them at the airport, and I saw on their site that they have service at John Wayne. I'd love to rent car seats from them instead of the rental car company, plus their seat was cheaper. We also aren't at DLR our entire trip. I'm just going to have to break down and call. I hate talking on the phone!

Did you get the premium or regular stroller?

I have no experience with renting one, we always bring one, but I have never had anyone even touch my stroller and we have always brought one worth about $200.

We rented a double jogger from them. No car seats so I can't say how those would be - we hauled our own seats. The stroller was left for us to p/u from the front desk of the hotel we stayed at.

We had 3 car seats, 5 suit cases, 2 carry-on and the back pack carrier there is NO WAY a double jogger would have fit anywhere :rotfl:

I know that some people say to rent from DLR but we didn't want to because we wanted to use it outside the park. Also some people say to buy a cheap one when you get there but personally I HATE cheap strollers and didn't want to be stuck hunched over or kicking a wheel for a week.

I can't speak to renting as we always take our own stroller, but I can say that we've never had an issue with anyone touching our stroller in either park. We ditch it with a full bag of baby/toddler essentials in the basket in the stroller parking areas and have never had any incident.
