Squeaker shoes - has anyone ever seen them?!?!

I've never seen or heard of these shoes! Not sure what I think of them yet...

I HATE those shoes! I am a nurse practitioner and you would not believe how annoying those shoes are in a medical practice! Trust me...when someone tells you "those shoes are great"...I'm sure they are meaning it sarcastically. Everyone in the office I work cannot stand those shoes. It is stressful enough in that setting much less pile on unnecessary squeaky shoes. I see the point in it encouraging a child to walk (I have a child with special needs), but they should not be worn in places that tend to be more confined. For the parents who LOVE those shoes...I feel that the love is because they are on YOUR child. Just wait 5-10 years when your child cannot wear those shoes and you will see (hear) how annoying they are! I'll get down off of my soapbox quickly so I can go put my flamesuit on! :rotfl:

My friend sells them in her store and they are so parents can know where their child is. It would have been great to have those for my son when he was little as he snuck out of his daycare room when he was about 2. He was the first child they had that could open the door even with the safety cover on it and was found in the hall by another worker. From then on he had bells on his feet and the door had loud bells as well. Some kids wander or run so best to be safe than sorry. Yes, it can be annoying but safety first for so many parents.

I work in a church nursery. A little girl about 15 months came in wearing those shoes. I thought they were very cute and honestly I guess I'm used to noise cause they didn't bother me at all. The mom was nice enough to send extra shoes in her diaper bag in case they got on my nerves.

My son had these shoes. I really liked them. I used to own a childrens clothing boutique and sold these shoes. I could not keep them in stock, they flew out of the store. I do know several customers that swore they got their children to walk because they loved to make the squeeking sound each time they took a step. I personally didn't even notice the squeek after a while. You can also remove the little piece that makes the shoes squeek if needed. However, I do hate the skate shoes. I don't know how many times my children or myself have almost been ran over by these.

I have about 6 pairs at home in my daughters baby box. We bought her leather squeeky shoes in China when we adopted her. The quality of the shoes were fantastic and at about $2 a pair US

Me too. I think I bought 17 pairs in China. They are everywhere there.
The squeeker DOES come out with no problem. :hippie:

Am I the only person on the planet that hasn't "heard" :lmao: of these shoes? Seriously I must be living under a rock... To me it just sounds as annoying as "wheelie" shoes.... :rolleyes1... jus' sayin'. (p.s. just to stop the flames before they start... I know there are some children that can and do use these shoes appropriately, that being said for every 1 of those children there are like 50 others that do not....I work in retail)

I've never heard of them either (and I agree they must be as annoying as those "heelie/wheelie" shoes!!)

The closest I remember was the "light up" shoes that I used to buy for my daughter when she was little. Never heard of a squeaky shoe!

I can only assume the ones I heard last week were of the louder type. I can't honestly believe that anyone would consider these 'cute' since they were nothing short of someone squeaking a rather loud, high pitched duck directly in your ear!

I can understand wanting to know where your child is in a store, etc., but really these shoes told everyone in this particular store and far out into the mall where this child was! You wouldn't let your child scream through every step of a store would you? So why these shoes?

I've seen lots of these- from lots of overseas adoptions at my church. They got them in China and bring them back for others who want them. I think they are cute for a few squeaks, then they get annoying. I would remove the squeaker if I had some. They are cute shoes without the squeaking!

Add me to the love them list. I think they are really sweet. My little girl likes them too. We had them as summer sandals last year and again this summer.

We only wear them outside and at Disney and maybe to Costco or the grocery store. We don't wear them to the doctor or anywhere like that. When she wears them to her babysitter's I always send along other sandals in case.

My DD is on her second pair and I will be sad when she is done with them since they will be her last ones. (she is 2 next month)

Uh, yeah, like I need my childs shoes squeeking to tell me where he is. As if I can't hear the high pitched Chuga chuga chuga chuga ALL ABOARD that is his favorite phrase of choice this week. I'd never buy these shoes unless I had a really good reason, perhaps if he didn't walk on time.

That is exactly what these sounded like. Like I said I can see a time and place for these (walking issues, at the park, visually impaired parent) but to wear them b/c they are cute I just can't understand. I think people who have them should be respectful of what is going on around them and take the squaker out when appropriate.

I just don't buy the argument that these squeaky shoes were what got a child to walk. I think it's probably just a coincidence that they walked when they started wearing these shoes. And to say that you use the shoes to know where your child is...:lmao: I have a child who did have two pairs of heelies...so I guess I annoyed some people, too. However, I was very strict as far as to where she could and could not use the shoes. But, some parents are not that respectful of other people...whether with heelies or those dreaded squeaky shoes! :rolleyes1

I have had the misfortune of being around toddlers in those shoes. I HATE those shoes! On the other hand, never in a million years would it have occurred to me that there would be any legitimate reason for a child to wear them.

I have seen them on kids at Target, the mall, etc. They are horribly annoying. If a child HAS TO wear them for therapeutic reasons that's one thing, but I definitely don't think there is anything cute about that noise.

I have never heard of these shoes before so I had to do an internet search! This is just one site I found http://www.wesqueak.net/ and you can click the hear me squeak box to hear the sound it makes. I can tell you that it would drive my poor little Papillon over the edge if my kids had these shoes! lol I have never seen him or our Golden wake from a peaceful sleep so fast, complete with the tilted head and everything. It sure got their attention. The shoes are very cute, style-wise but I doubt I could get used to the squeak.

I was surprised when I saw them in stores here. I had never heard of them until we were well into the process of adopting our daughter from China. It was one of the things that was on everyones' "must buy" list while in China. People would buy them in every color and size possible so I thought it was something we needed! LOL

I was told that families in China bought them for their children to learn to walk. But after I had purchased my share of them (like 10 pairs) I asked our guide if they were popular there she told me no. The shops around the hotels where foreigners traveling for adoption carry them and I think it is just something that had gotten out and of course everyone feels the need to bring squeaky shoes home for their children. Of course they're like $2-$3 USD there so that helps. ;)

I am very guilty of taking the squeakers out and even hiding the shoes from my dd after she was toddling around. It became a joke because my teen sons would hide them too. :D I only let my daughter wear them to events with other adoptive families and we really stopped that after a couple of times. They are annoying after the first couple of squeaks.

My DD loved her squeakers. I had bought them locally and had been told they didn't come in bigger sizes. She wears an 8 or a 9 now, and didn't fit the 8 in the store. I see the wee squeaks come in bigger sizes. I am hoping they are as flexible as the other brand I had bought. My DD walks on her tippy toes and will trip constantly if her shoes are stiff. I loved them because they made her giggle. They definitely were not loud. I did let her wear them out though. I hate to think others were being annoyed by her, but I think it is better to hear a little sqeak than have her screaming that I didn't let her wear them.
Oh, and I don't let her wear them to places like the doctors office or church. Actually she can't wear them at all now because they don't fit. She has been crying that she wants new ones. Guess I am off to find some online now! All of the places I checked didn't come big enough.
