Square One Disney Store Closing

Went in today to do a return and found out that the Square one location is the only Disney store in Ontario closing. Really sucks for us, sucks worse for the cast members. 25% off everything and will increase from there. Its the top performing Disney Store in Canada, top 5-10 in North America, so it makes no sense, at least until they open up a Shopdisney.ca The plan is to try to have everything sold in the next 2 weeks.

This makes me so sad,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, I would love some small memento of that store ,,,I was there when it opened and remember the first time I took my granddaughter there.
I just don't feel safe going into a Mall right now. Dang.
Well I have to think positive right?

What?! This is crazy, that location is so busy, that mall is so popular, and the only location close to home Now that I’m working from home, I don’t have the luxury of checking out the Toronto Eaton Centre location during my lunch breaks.

Did you buy anything? Wonder what they have in stock, did you see the Nuimos?
I was planning to go this weekend to see if they had them, my DD’s birthday is coming up and she really wants them.

I did not see the nuimos. 25% off everything. The sales is supposed to be increasing each day till it's all gone. I bought $350. I probably bought more but I actually only went to the store to do a return from Christmas. The one manager told me one person yesterday bought 8k after the discount.

I believe the list yesterday only showed 40 or so stores closing between Canada and the US. (The other Canadian location was CrossIron in Alberta.)

Sadly this may not be the only location that closes in Ontario. Still waiting on information on the remaining 20 closures.

This is sad... I remember when they closed for the big renovation in 2010, I got crazy offers, like a Disneyland guidebook for CAN 5.00.

I'll probably go there this weekend to see what they have. I ALWAYS walk by when I go to Square One....

Out of the three in BC, why do you think the Burnaby store would be the one to close? I figured maybe it would be the one in Pacific Center (figuring that one has the highest rent charges)?? My closest one is Guildford and *knocks on wood* I think that one will be safe. What do I know though lol

Based upon what I heard from the CMS, about the conference calls, I know there and at other stores. All the stores are eventually closing in the next few years. It's mostly just a matter of whether it takes 1 year or 3 till they have a cdn website and distribution centre so they can shut down all the stores.

I hope I’m wrong cause it’s closest to me. Just a hunch. I had no idea there was one in Guildford! Never shop there. Or Metrotown for that matter. Only time I go is if I need something that the malls around me don’t have. They have a few shops not in my malls like Disney, Abnormal Skin Company, Victoria Seceret and Chipolte lol. Otherwise all malls seem to have the same stores.

I did go back at 3 pm, at which time there was hardly anyone in line and they were accepting walk-ins.

So, if you are planning on going, I don't advise going at opening.

I found that most of the stock was older stuff that they wouldn't just transfer to another store. I found a few things but not a ton.

So now I am out of luck to get the nuiMOs for my DD’s birthday gift. Unless I am willing to drive out of my region to a store in a hot spot. I guess a birthday gift is a non-essential item. So sad...

My guess is their lease was up or at least the lease negotiations didn't go the way they wanted them to, so this one became the first to close.

And yes, they need a Canadian Shopdisney or at least a better shipping policy.

Where are located @Silvermist999 ? I was at the Limeridge Mall store last at the beginning of March and they had Nuimos there, along with outfits. It is only about an hour from Square One
