Spyware

Has anyone else had a problem with spyware & adware on their computer after joining some of these reward sites? Last night, I was doing my weekly spyware scan on my PC and I found so many instances of spyware (27 files had to be quarantined). This has only happened since I joined a particular rewards site that I saw so many of you talking about.

Has this happened to anyone else? I'm afraid if I continue, I'll be risking my online privacy just to earn a few Disney Dollars.

I get them all the time, and when I am only surfing. They are everywhere.


Which site are you getting them from do you think?

I've only registered for Quick Rewards. I set up a separate email because I knew there would be a TON of spam emails from registering for all of the contests and newsletters.

I asked the IT guy at my job about it, and he said anytime you sign up for these newsletters and contests through rewards programs like those, there's an excellent chance that the company that produces the newsletter/contest will plant spyware or adware on your PC. I delete cookies every day to try to prevent some of it, but I only do a spyware scan once each week. I guess if I want to stick with this, I'll have to scan every day.

I'm not blaming Quick Rewards, by the way. It's all of the items that you sign up for through Quick Rewards that get you into trouble.

I not fond of the programs you have to sign up for things to get rewards.



Scanning dailey is a great idea even if you don't do rewards.
