Sprinting

I had heard somewhere that to avoid waiting forever first thing in the morning, when the ropes drop you literally have to sprint :moped: to the high-demand ride of your choice (Space Mountain, Safari, Test Track, Soarin'). Due to joint problems I can't sprint (can walk fast tho!). If we are there at rope drop, what kinds of lines can we expect if we go at a fast walk to get there?
Esp. Safari - it looks like it's quite a way.

Not sure about having to sprint...walking briskly would be good however if you are there at rope drop there should not be an issue with getting on with minimal wait.

Remember. if you are attending a park that is hosting EMH's, then rope drop for the general public will be an hour after resort guests. Meaning for the gen pub...doesn't matter if you sprint or walk quickly, the E rides will be near capacity since they are the only ones that were already open.

Was just at WDW last October and only had trouble with the rope drop and Soarin'. We were walking as fast as we could (just short of a trot) directly to Soarin' after rope drop, and by the time we got there, the stand-by line already had a 30-minute wait (so, of course, we got fast passes). Other than that, didn't have the same problem at other parks - got right on whatever else we wanted.

BTW, my theory is that Soarin' is so new (and so many people never got a chance to go on Soarin' over California at DCA, where the lines are not nearly as long) that it's the most popular ride at WDW right now. Plus, it's very cool! (Now that Expedition Everest is opening, that may become the most popular - who knows??)

Going to EMH only once, when we have reservations at Chef Mickey's at 10:10, we'll start with MK at 8:00. After Chef Mickey's we head for Epcot.
Neither DH or DS are morning people. We'll be getting up at 7 to get to the parks at their normal opening time.
Since they are night owls, we might go to a late night EMH if they are still moving fast after our park of the day closes. That's when I'll be ready to hit the hay!

But if you are hot and sweaty when you get there and have to cool down - will it be worth it? I would not enjoy the ride if I was breathing heavy and had to start out my day smelly. :)

Which is why it is probably good I can't run! But I heard about some frantic people taking off, but I was figuring if I was there at rope drop, I wouldn't have a long wait. That way I can get on one of the high demand rides, then pull a fast pass for another if necessary.
Then again, we are going in March, between the heavy periods of President's Day and Spring Break - maybe I don't need to worry too much... :hyper:

We have never run or even walked fast for rides at rope drop and we have never had a problem. At the magic kingdom you can do splash, thunder, 2 or so times each if you want. The only time you may have an problem is when a ride is brand new like soar'n last year and like Everest will probably be this year. Just make sure to be at the park before open and you should have no problem.

Walk, please do not run in the parks :)

No worries here. With AK's opening show, there is a character safari vehicle that leads the way to Kilimanjaro Safaris. Walking behind the vehicle is the morning's chosen First Family holding a rope and flanked by two Safari CM's. There is no running. There is also a CM at the entrance to the cue who will lead (walking) the first riders to the vehicles. Again, there is no running :)
:wizard:

The CMs don't let you sprint anymore. The crowd has to follow a barrier of CMs at the rope drop all the way to the popular rides. The pace is a little brisk but not unmanageable. :)
