Sprint wireless customers, pay attention!

Ah.

I haven't had those issues, although there are a couple of dead spots I know have problems. Verizon does have the best service in this area, but I get no discount through them and my bill would go up quite a bit I believe.

I need 3 phones on my plan, but currently mine is the only smart phone.

Does Verizon charge extra for a smart phone?

Dawn

I am going back to Verizon. With Sprint, I had dropped calls constantly (daily), even when I hadn't moved from my location or moved the phone. Texts wouldn't go through (or would come through over 20-30 minutes later). Both at home and at work. I would call and call and they would say nothing was wrong on their end, blah blah blah.

It was a horrible experience starting with Sprint (they were supposed to waive the activation fee and then they wouldn't, and all sorts of other things happened in the first month that I should have just cancelled it within the 30 day cancellation policy). BTW, one month after I signed up with them they dropped the discount on the 3rd and 4th lines!

A larger discount (27% vs 15% at the time with Verizon, but now I can get 22% with Verizon) isn't worth the aggravation of having to call one person 10 times to finish a conversation because of dropped calls!

They offered me an $80 credit. She seemed to imply this was some big huge favor they were doing and they don't do it for most people and it was really "out of the box," etc.... :lmao:

I did accept it. It makes my dad's phone on our plan extend by about 4 months she said, but I doubt we will switch anyway.

Oh, I think I get it now. The current "family plan" base price for the first two phones is $130. It is still $130, but they have deemed that the first phone is $110 and the 2nd phone is $20. (for employee discount purposes.)

Ok, so the base family plan is $70 for the first two phones....each additional phone is $10. You can add data and texting PER PHONE on this plan.

So, the first phone would be calculated at $60 and my discount would only be on the $60 I suppose.

That is what i was trying to figure out.

So, if you are leaving Sprint, where are you going? What is a better deal for a family plan?

I am not sure I can give up my iphone!!!!!!!!! I am now hooked.

I can't find a cheaper family plan, we have 5 phones. Sprint has made me mad, they did this same thing I think it was last year when the quit allowing the 3rd, 4th and 5th phones to receive the discount. In the end they are still the cheapest for us and we get great coverage in our area.

has anybody else been dropped our of this? I also just get hit with $5 increase. When I called they said it was new corporate discount renegoating deal. The employer is really going to nego. a better deal for the phone company VS keeping or getting a better deal for it's employees???

Seeing I just whacked ATT Uverse & paper towels- saving ($85 + $15 ) a month now using hulu +, netflix, a great super clear local signal and towels.

Sprint is next on the radar. my goal is cut my cell bill by 1/3 or $50.....

Thats a lot of love as WDW!!!!

Thanks for the heads up, looked and my bill is $5 higher

The premier plan went away a while ago for me.

I think it's interesting that for some, they offered a credit or the cancellation without ETF and for others, they only offered cancellation without ETF. I wonder if it's because some are close to the beginning of their contracts and some are almost done?

Thank you so much for posting this. They redrew the coverage maps since we added my parent's phone lines to our account, and now they barely get any service. The phones lose their battery charge in a few hours because the phones are constantly trying to find a signal. Hopefully I can cancel their phone lines from my family plan (without an ETF) and they can port them over to Verizon where they get service.

Just have a couple of questions about this, we have sprint and i looked at some bills and they did the same to us.
1- Who should i email about this
2- What exactly should i put in my email, can someone post some examples of the emails they have sent to sprint.
Thanks

I sent a message through the "contact us" feature on the Sprint website.

This is what I wrote:
"A portion of my employee discount is missing from my shared
plan. It seems as if Sprint has now separated out the "family plan"
without notifying me and now only giving me a discount on the first
line, when it's supposed to be a discount on the two lines. This
appears to be modifying the contract without notification to me (i.e.
breach)."

One employee acknowledged the change in terms (without saying anything about notification) while another employee told me that the notification had gone out in the January bill to be effective as of the February bill.

I called Sprint about this over the weekend and I was told that a notification went out on the 2nd page of the Jan and Feb bill. According to the rep I talked to and his supervisor, the change took effect in Feb (I didn't notice because I had changed my billing due date and had all these pro-rated charges). I was also told that since I wasn't within 30 days of the billing cycle date, I was not eligible to cancel without paying the termination fee anymore. I was offered a $50 credit, which I finally agreed to because I was tired of arguing with them by this point. I plan to go and double check my bills since I am signed up for online billing and don't have a paper record of any of this.

I don't care so much about the $, since it's a little over $4 a month more now for my plan. What makes me so mad is that the Sprint rep who sold me the plan and the phone back in August made a huge fuss about the fact that I would be getting such a better employee discount than what I had with Verizon. A few months later it changes and Sprint doesn't even have the courtesy to send a letter. :sad2:

I thought I would bump this to the front in case anyone was still interested in this. There has been a mention about Verizon having an "upgrade" fee (to change phones?)

I've been with Sprint for over 10 years and truth is, had no problems. THEN... they start getting greedy or sneaky. or BOTH.

I received a thank you card in the mail, "oh thank you for your business, so happy to have you as a customer, we know you have options" blah blah and decided to share my frustration with the person who signed the card. (She left her email)

The way they have changed the family plan is clearly a business move (in their favor) the change in discount (in their favor) and now the requirement of the $10 fee for a smart phone (more $$ their way.) I said so basically my service is going to be going up $30+ a month and that is ridiculous.

I received an email that I would get a call from their customer care who was all ... oh we are the only non-throttled wireless provider and we need to pay for the usage and smart phone users use x amount of data per month.. etc. etc. They must all be working off the same script.

I could use the AAA discount, but that would mean binding myself for an automatic two years.

The sad thing is, unless I go to a pre-paid vendor I am not sure I'll work out any better with Verizon. Sigh.

There will be a breaking point for our family wireless and it is coming. I'll go "old school" and use my house phone and use my computer for internet and use my cell phone as a regular phone, as needed, as nature intended.

So all Sprint customers, you have my support. If only a mass way for us all to let them know we have a point of no return, like customers did with the banking system.

Now I am blah blah blahing...

4 years ago, I had a pre-paid phone through T-Mobile that I paid $100 for and got 1000 minutes, which were good for a year (usually lasted me about 9 months). Then, sis got a new bf and all they did was text each other (she also had a pre-paid phone). $100 for the year went to $100 for a month of texting! So, at that point, we figured, might as well sign a contract.

We went to Verizon (I had a 15% discount through work). Then, about a year and a half ago, Verizon required a "data" plan for their basic QWERTY phone. So, after our 2 year contract was up, we went to Sprint (and their 27% discount). I had problems with them since the beginning - they said they would waive the activation fee, denied it, then wouldn't. I should have cancelled then. But, I stuck it out. Then the discount disappeared on the 3rd & 4th lines - had I known it was going to disappear, I would have totally not gotten those lines. And, I should have then cancelled the entire contract w/o the ETF.

Then, the discount disappeared for the 2nd line. Every day, I'd have at least one dropped call, regardless of whether I was at home or work. Some days, I had multiple dropped calls, received texts 20 minutes after it was sent, and lots of texts wouldn't go through.

So glad I read the budget board and found out the discount disappeared after the 2nd line.
