Springtime Surprise 2026 (Apr 16-20)

We just registered this morning too. One thing I noticed is the POT deadline from my registration confirmation email has 10/1/2025. But in the event description on the runDisney website has 1/5/2026. And in the registration form, it's 1/5/2026.

Going to try to find out which one is correct.

That POT deadline WAS listed as Oct 1 on the website, now changed to Jan 5. Not sure what to make of that bc Oct 1 is more in line with their past timeframes (PW’s deadline is Sept 1).

I sent an email to track shack and they confirmed that it is 1/5/2026. I remember it being 10/1/2025 on the website too, but they have since fixed that. It's just the registration confirmation email that has the wrong date.

The range for qualifying races is 1/1/2023 - 1/5/2026

I like the later date as it includes the Wine and Dine weekend.

What are my chances on the 29th? Is the SS less popular so more availability?
Depends on what you're looking for. 10 miler is very clearly the least popular race at WDW for obvious reasons that have nothing to do with the quality of the course or anything, it's just hot. I don't know what to make of the challenge sellouts of the last three years, or specifically why the 2024 iteration sold out so quickly. Would lean towards thinking this year's will stay open but who knows, we might be surprised (pun not intended). This is one of those weekends where a theme can make a lot of difference but I can't predict what will resonate with a lot of people.

Oh wow, thanks.

It seems like I will be SOL for the 10K. I better start gearing up to run the Challenge or 10 miler if I can get in at all!

I may have misunderstood. Are your times listed for the early registration or the general?

Those are the time for the general registration--early registration doesn't sell out any of the races as Club runDisney membership is quite low, compared to the number of race spots available

In that case I should be ok, thank you

I don’t know if people can tell me recent experiences with the new brackets for estimated time… last race I did was still less than 8:00/mile or 8:00-10:00
We will be running the 5K, and our pace for a 5K is usually about 7:30-7:45 min/mile…
Does everyone who want to be in the front now put less than 7:00min/mile or are people more respectful/honest and putting in real estimated times?

Since it will be my nephews’ first Disney race (and they are pretty fast runners!), I don’t want to be behind a large wave of people who plan to walk the 5K and just put the fastest time to be in front, but I also don’t want to be disrespectful to elites and lie about my time (I am also wondering whether they would check for POT for people who put less than 7:00/mile to make sure they qualify?)

I hope this doesn’t come out as weird as I am usually a rule follower, but I want to make sure I do what’s best for them!

Well those closing times make me feel a little better. Personally I love WDW in April and bought my DVC contract with that timeframe in mind when choosing my use year. I really enjoyed the SS 10k this past April. However on our recent. Disney trip last week my wife said she needed a break and is 50/50 on doing the SS.

To her credit she was also sick and tired of listening to my son and I talk Disney all the time on the trip. Also didn’t help that we weee also talking about when we return in October For the Food & Wine runs. And she wasn’t crazy about being gifted a Food & Wine Half Marathon bib for our anniversary when we’re already doing the 5k with the kids.

So I guess that means I’ll just have to sign us up for the 10k and let her know on Christmas 🎄 morning.

It’s hard to know what other people will do—but yes, there are some who are bound to lie for the placement-nothing you can control. Don’t worry about “elites”. This is an untimed race—not the BAA 5k, and as a Disney race, most people aren’t generally going for speed, but for the experience. If you are sub-8, then put that. You can always make your way to the front of the corral you’re in for the race start. With the stagger, and at that pace, you should be fine. I’d suggest you and your nephews set your race expectations in advance, though.
