Spring Secret Sister Swap- CLOSED

pretty in tink and I would both like to do the spring secret sister. She asked if there is going to be one for kids this time too. I didn't see anything about that here. Also, could we put a limit on the size of the envelopes, like a legal business envelope or something so that they are all the same size? I noticed that the 41 cent swap didn't really work as a 41 cent swap because many different envelopes were used, including a priority envelope. Just seems that people won't feel unsure about what they are really doing. I know I felt like what I sent wasn't going to be enough. Not complaining about what I received either-Faerie did a great job. :thumbsup2

We'll be sending our pm's soon.

I would love to sign my boys up for one. My littlest has been making the layered icons from my Cricut. He's doing a really great job. He keeps saying, these are to send out Mom, you have to send these out. :rotfl: I think Mickster's DS is going to get a little envelope in the mail soon. :thumbsup2

Oh, I was going to use a small bubble envelope... some stuff will pooch out the regular paper envie too much. I wanted to send a pack of brads, ribbon spool, jolees... that type of thing...

:confused3 So, I guess mine was going to be of the $1.?? variety :)

don't forget the Post office will charge more if the envelope pooches out. It has to fit in the little cardboard slot thingy. Real technical sounding isn't it! :rotfl2:

so we may want to look at changing the 41¢ to something else, I don't know what but something.

Not if we put a family member or friend's name and address instead! Or a different DIS'er.

I'm off to do my survey!

Ya'll can use my addy for SS return addy. Mazda, you can mail to me first and I can get the packages off to your SS if you would like too.

see i never even thought about it that way. we could send it to someone else and then on to you! that's a really good idea!!!

Okay...I'm in again! I had such a good time with this and I think it will help make the blah winter months go by more quickly.

PM on the way!

Please let me know if there are kids out there that want to do a swap- I will organize it. I know my DD would like to be involved.
S :)

decisions...decisions......

what are you all making for the last package? this one is holding me up.....

I did this last time. My postmark is pretty much a dead giveaway since I am one of like 2 or 3 people from CA who participate. I sent my stuff to BAMB and she sent it on for me.

other CA girl here......I lucked out, gave DH the first one when he was going back to FL and my mom the second one when she went back to WA. Will have to see what I do this time.

I'm pretty sure pretty in tink's DD wants to do it again, or she wouldn't have asked me if there was one for kids.

Do the kids fill out the same swap questionairre?

As far as envelopes and postage, I guess what I was trying to say was that all the envelopes should be about the same size, and then the postage shouldn't matter. Whatever fits in an envelope, fits in it, and that's fair. After all, even if you used a regular legal envelope, if you filled it with fibers, you would end up having to pay extra postage. And brads just don't ship too well in a plain legal envelope. If someone had little stuff to fill the envelope, they could just add some ribbon or fiber to fluff it up some.

I have to use a bubble as no regular envelope would make it that far:rotfl: If the rain didn't get it the postman would;)

ETA Is there definitely going to be a kids one? DS(8) would like to do it if I can get through to him what its all about :lmao: I think I lost him with "secret sister" - he hought someone was sending me a baby :rotfl: :lmao:

my ds would love to do it this time around.

My boys are in.
My eldest could probably make something on his own with some help. My youngest, well, I guess his SS would get something created by me with some help from him.
I'm probably to going to buy one of those shaped cardboard/chipboard books. As that will withstand my children's handling better than a paperbag album or trying to let them do an exploding box.
Or maybe I'll let them make a few page kits. With me doing the cutting for the right sizes, helping them assemble and then let them have at it with the Jolees/eyelets/brads/fiber/Cricut cutouts. As long I as I keep on reminding my youngest that this is not a battle he is recreating where everything goes up in red glitter stickles, it should be okay.
Need to go update their questions. :thumbsup2

PS-my youngest would give me the evil eye for days if he thought someone was sending me a baby sister. :rotfl2:

oh my ds would give the BIG evil eye if he thought there was a baby coming to live in this house. are ya kiddin'?

do they fill out the same ?'s as we did?

I'm pretty sure we did last time.
I save them and then just update them the next time, adding any questions that weren't there last time.
