Spring Pantry Challenge

Bumping this is case anyone else wants to join in before the New Year officially starts. :goodvibes

Count me in! I followed the holiday one, but did not join. I am ready to start now.

I already have a long list of dinners available from my stock, but DH is out of town this week. So, I will not start on those meals until he returns Friday. DS (step) is at his mom's, too, so it is just DD and me. She would rather have soup than anything, so we should be covered for the next few nights.

I hope to keep my grocery bill under $300 for the four of us in January.

I"d like to join in. I was doing the holiday one for a while until around Thanksgiving when my husband's grandmother passed away and got off track. We're expecting a baby in February and I'd like to use up some things before he gets here. Hopefully I can use my stockpile to make some meals for the freezer to have for the first couple of weeks after he comes home.

Other than diapers I'd like to keep our groceries under $100. We'll see how I do.

count me in. I just went shopping and I have a ton of stuff again:)..also I froze all the bake goods I made over Christmas:cloud9:

So I'm going ahead and starting the challenge today.

I have a pork roast from the freezer in the crockpot along with some carrots and potatoes. We'll have a salad with it too.

For a new year's party we're going to tomorrow night, I'll be making some cookies from a couple of cake mixes. That will use up two boxes plus some chocolate chips and almonds I have in the pantry. I'm just glad I can bring something without spending any extra.

I just did this for Nov and Dec and am just now restocking!

But I did notice a few items we still need to eat up. We are set with cereal for at least a month!

I just stocked up on meat and we should be set for this month with that too.....as well as finding 4 pounds of shrimp in the freezer! :thumbsup2

We are also set with most canned goods and I plan to not replace canned items if possible. I want to start making my OWN sauces and my own cream of soup bases. Much cheaper and much healthier and I *think* I can make in bulk and freeze. I need to look it up.

Dawn

I love these challenges. They really do help. Such a wonderful Idea. I am in for the new year. Tonight for diner we are having a beef bake that has stew beef, potatoes, carrots, onion soup mix, tomatoes juice, mushroom gravy but I didn't have any so i used beef gravy. Also today i made a banana bread with the bananas that were saved in the fridge. I am going to make a list of my food later tonight. i love the idea. Thanks

I am starting as of right now to not shop anymore except for dairy, produce, meat if there's a good sale, and the liquor store. And bread.

Tonight's dinner - lamb chops with roasted potatoes and stuffing.

Tomorrow - Probably crab dip, mexican dip, and corn and black bean salsa.

I'm in. Any savings would be better than none. I usually spend around $600 per month for family of four. Freezer and pantry need help. I already have pork roast in freezer and sauerkraut in pantry for new years day meal. Also have rolls in freezer, carrots in frig, and probably enough potatoes in pantry to make mashed potatoes. We finally ate or froze all the leftovers from christmas. For New Year's eve I froze a cheesecake from christmas and pantry is full of beer and booze. I need cheese to slice and mixers for drinks.
I have bologna, crackers, shrimp, cheese dip, soda. DD is making brownies from mix in pantry. I am probably making spaghetti also just need ground beef.

So I started on this yesterday by looking in the cupboards and freezers and making my lists again as to what is in there and compared to when we started when I joined the Pre-holiday I have made a small dent. It feels good to know that the food is not going to waste.

Last night we had Thai Peanut Chicken (chicken, carrots, zucchini, rice from freezer and thai peanut sauce from cupboard)

Lunch today will be leftovers.

We are going over to my Grandma's both tonight and tomorrow night so those meals are taken care of.

we'll I'm in............... just finished paying off all the balances on my credit cards (Holiday charging )online today.......so I'm left with $350 for food, misc and gas for January..............

I have had pink eye so I have been cooking yesterday or today. Ill be back on track tomm:thumbsup2

I'm in too, also read about this on two blogs I follow (LifeasMom and MoneySavingMom). I haven't done my inventory yet but I'm sure I can make it through January on what is in the pantry and freezer with only needing to purchase milk, fruit/veggies, bread and eggs.

Should be interesting...........

So for tonight's dinner I ended up making the sausage and biscuit casserole from Boma. It's actually in the oven right now, and I opened a bottle of merlot to go with it.

I think tomorrow will be fajitas, but I didn't do what I was planning on doing tonight, so who knows.

Count me in. I have followed several of these challenges, but have never participated. We have to cut corners this month ( can you believe it is January :confused3) so this is a great place to start. I will work on the menu items tomorrow while I watch the Buckeye game.
