Spring Musicals.

Well we're doing Camelot for the spring musical :) I'm in the pit so it's cool! Last year we did a dinner theatre show but I was in Chicago so I didn't get to do it. The year before we did Annie, and I was Annie!!!!!! BEST EXPERIENCE EVER!!! Freshie year was little shop of horrors which I was in the pit for. And last year we also did Guys and Dolls and I was Adelaide which is AMAZING!!!!

I'm in pit and we're doing Annie.
...Haha yeah. Annie. Last year we did Wizard of Oz, for which the music is slightly better. I mean, there's nothing fundamentally wrong with Annie, I just feel like by the time the musical is over I'll be tremendously sick of playing Tomorrow over and over again. The violin part for Annie isn't even very good, it was better for Wizard of Oz.

Hooray for annie! haha I found out the audition songs yesterday for our production. I'll probably end up singing the end of "I Think I'm Gonna Like It Here"...good song but high g ending so that slightly scares me. But its the same note as Climb Every Mountain which I had last year so should be ok...I hope...

We're doing Godspell. I would talk about it more, but, y'know, religion...

I think I got cast as a lead role. Everyone said I was really good, and you know how catty high school thespians can be ;) I just hope the dancing was okay, because I can dance, but I'm not great.

There weren't many guys auditioning, I think only 10 or 12, and there are 4 lead roles for guys, so the competition isn't nearly as tough, which I am thankful for. A LOT more girls auditioned, there were probably about 25 or 30 there.

We don't do a spring musical, only fall.
But we just finished our run of Little Women on Sunday.
It was so fun, such a cute show.

Now we're focusing on try-outs for one act play.

Oh, Little Women sounds fun. I sang a song from it for a summer performance group.

My audition pieces are as follows:

Ballad: "No One is Alone" ~ Into the Woods
Uptempo: "That'll Show Him" ~ A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum
Monologue: "I Shall Be Head Queen" ~ You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown

I'm so excited. I'm about 50% memorized, unfortunately, as I've been sick.

Im a huge theatre person but the plays at our school....just plain suck. I did drama last year and the teacher....yeah she just sucks to. Ive done seven plays with a out of schol theatre but now that im doing cheerleading i cant handle anything else on my plate. But our school is doing ieda.....its something with elton john...i honestly know alot of musicals...never heard of this one.

My school is doing Guys and Dolls, I've been in two musicals, but I don't know if I'll make this one because I'm not in Chorus!:scared1:

The Spring Musical at my school is a HUGEE deal every year. We rent out a professional theater for the week of the show and have the show there :D. I'm excited for this years....South Pacific. Classic, Tony winning show. I'm a major theater person. haha. My freshman year we did Peter Pan and we flew ALL the principle characters that had to fly...Peter, Wendy, Michael, John. It was awesome!

We haven't had auditions for our school musical yet (It's Grand Hotel and goes up in April- auditions are in Feb) but I just made Beauty and the Beast at this catholic boy's school that does really good theatre... so excited :)

try WINTER MUSICAL
beauty and the beast

I'm the baker.... I get 4 lines... better than nothing

Our musical was announced at the end of last year...Annie!!! I am so excited because I've always dreamed of being in a production of it. We had our first meeting for it today, learn the dance on Saturday, then the song on Tuesday, and auditions are the next week.

I'm a total theatre kid...been in 2 plays and 1 musical (sound of music...nun baby! haha) so I am so excited to be back working on another show! :yay:

OMJ!!!!! annie is my altime favorite musical to BE in( nothing tops Legally Blonde!!!) i was molly in it 6 years ago and was just cast as Miss Hannigan!!!!! it's such a fun, classic show to be in!

I start building the set for Sound of Music next week. Dx
I love theater, I do, I'm just spazzing over the hours with another AP class on my schedule.

were doing grease and trojan women but idk if im gonna do them this year :sad2:

the thing is i have my dance show which i dont wanna do but its required. i signed a contract. stupid contract

anyway i was supposed to do 13 not at my school but i wasnt allowed. grrrr

the music for godspell is fantastic!!!! By MY Side is my go to audition song!!!! guys have it soooo easy, my freshman friend just got Toby in Sweeny Todd (our school musical) i can't believe thats what my chior teacher picked. it's gonna be hard. i rly wanted to audtion but i'm already in another show and they conflicted too much. oh well...

We did Godspell my freshman year, as a fall musical (Fame! was our spring).

Weird show, but there's so many ways you can do it, that it makes it quite interesting.

I'm really jealous at the school doing Sweeney Todd.. we'd never do that. Dx

our drama department is good... but not that good! i'm curious how it will turn out... our school's past musicals have been pretty basic, beauty and the beast, once upon a matress, grease... u get the idea

Yeah, I understand. We've got some great talent, but the same people are cast for lead roles every play and its somewhat annoying.

We've done (since I've been around):
Godspell
Fame! (our set was awesome.. there's youtube videos I can post if anyone wants to see it)
Fools (play)
Curtains! (first theater in the state to do it)
1940's Radio Hour (hated this play with songs, but not a "musical")
and now Sound of Music

previously they've done Music Man, The Crucible, Thoroughly Modern Millie, Little Shop of Horrors, etc.

I also found vids of our rendition of Godspell and an old West Side Story if anyone's interested.
