Spring Early Summer Resort Hotel Discounts just dropped!

We have Hojo booked for a 5 night stay but even with the discount it is almost double to stay at the Disneyland hotel even with the discount, am I doing something wrong?

My Hojo room is $499 a night but after the discount Grand Californian is $484 a night. When I originally booked GC it was around $700 a night.

I just did something insane. Grand Californian popped back up with standard club level so I booked it! I am justifying the expense these ways - I got a healthy tax refund this year, it's my first solo trip, I used miles for the flight so I didn't have to pay for airfare and I didn't have to buy tickets since I'm a magic key holder. LOL I am not canceling Tropicana quite yet until I see what level of guilt settles in. (But also I am so very excited too!)

That sounds wonderful! What a nice treat for yourself :)

I have the dapper day rate already for my trip in April and co worker has never stayed at GCH so thought it might be a nice treat. May have to stalk the site to see if a better room is available with a discount.

Quick question: you can pay for your stay at the GCH with Disney gift cards? Is there a limit to how many? Is it easier to do over the phone or just wait until check in?

We plan to go later in June as part of a multi-stop adventure to CA and HI! I booked a package with room (GCH standard view) and 3 day PH Genie plus tickets for June 21-24, and I made park reservations.

The current discount must be booked by June 6, so we assume that if a new discount comes out it'll probably be published a few days after that, and it'll probably cover my trip dates.

Is it correct to suppose I will be able to call at that time and apply the discount to my reservation (which would already be paid in full)? I'm planning to drop one of the nights and upgrade our room. Should I cancel my current package and just wait for the next discount to come out in early June? Will I be able to make park reservations two weeks out?

Carefully review your terms and conditions regarding cancellation of your package. I never book packages because the cancellation process and fees are much different than the favorable Room Only reservation cancellation policies. I believe that room only reservations can be cancelled up to 6 days prior to the reservation for a full refund. I believe the package cancellation terms are much more stringent and there is even a "change" fee for changes to reservations within a certain time period. (I don't know if Disney enforces the change fee when a discount drops, so maybe someone else can provide recent info.)

For these reasons, I forgo the 10% merchandise discount that you get with the package. The flexibility is worth it to me.

If it were me, assuming I can currently cancel the package without penalty, I would cancel the package and re-book a room only reservation. I would buy my tickets now and make my park reservations. Although it seems likely that you would be able to get reservations through the hotel bucket 2 weeks ahead of your trip, I'd want the peace of mind of having the reservations in hand.

Then, I'd still watch for discounts and ask for them to be applied to my reservation if they pop up. Or, just book the discounted room and then cancel the full price reservation.

I'm pretty sure there is usually a summer promotion, but I'm not positive. If there is, it will probably start a week or so after the current one ends.

FYI- When I called to add the discount to a previously booked room at DLH they weren't able to because the room type wasn't available anymore.

OH I am so annoyed with myself. As soon as I saw this I ran to book my solo April trip at the Disneyland Hotel. Well I was multi-tasking listening to a call at work the same time and I had the checkout date wrong. So I called to change it and there's no availability for that last night which is Tuesday, April 26. So then I decided to go back in and see the difference for GCH but the discount is gone now. They suggested I keep checking to see if that night opens up due to cancelations so I guess I'll do that and not canceling my Tropicana reservation quite yet. It's so odd that a Tuesday night is fully booked!

That Tuesday night was unavailable before this promotion came out. I called Monday to book April 24 and 25 at the DLH and we had considered adding the 26th and NOTHING available anywhere onsite. Something must be going on there. It is baffling.

It's Dapper Day weekend , beginning of Main Street Electrical Parade and last weleend of food and wine. Dapper day proper is on April 24th and the expo is all weekend.

That doesn't explain why I was able to book Sunday the 24th through Tuesday, but Wednesday is unavailable. I am aware of all these events, and honestly didn't expect to be able to even GET a room at the DLH, but availability was wide open for a 2 night stay checking in on Sunday.

Thanks for the post! I have an email into my Disney TA to get the discounted price on our May 2-7 stay at DLH - here's hoping!

$499 is WAY too high of a price for the Hojo. That’s insane!
Agreed. But, at least there are not stay minimums. I wanted to take my son to Road America (which is located in the middle of nowhere of Wisconsin) and the Americinn 15-minutes away was $286 / night....with a 4 night minimum. They do offer a continental breakfast of cereal, bagels, toast and muffins. That was far better than the other Resort which was $630 / night....with a 4 night minimum.

I decided to keep my GCH package booked for the summer instead of cancelling and rebooking room and tickets separately.

The cancellation policy on packages is worse, but the payment structure is better! Package deposit is $200, Room only deposit is one night (like $900), and tickets are pay now. Paying for package with Disney Visa allows me the 6 months 0% interest.

I'm just going to hope that a summer discount comes out and they will let me apply it to my existing package!
