Spring Direct Incentives 2/9-4/27

Does anyone know what the lowest price is right now for current members for 100 or 125 points direct at Polynesian? I have D23 and the Disney credit card. I don’t want to bother my guide as I probably won’t go this route and it’s become a headache. Thank you if you have knowledge!

I believe you have to have 150 points to qualify for any of the discounts. So for 100 or 125 you would be paying full price.
 

Selling a SSR resale 120 pts contract to buy a SSR direct 150 pts contract to get the perks... yes or no?
I would not. I would buy 150 PVB or RIV if I were after blue card benefits. The current SSR sale at 50 points only gets you down to $180/point. So, you’ve got at least an $80/point depreciation hit as soon as you buy. RIV depreciation isn’t any worse than that, but you get a much longer contract and actually some benefit to owning there.

Are you comfortable with the idea that you might get $0 for the 150 SSR points when you no longer want them? If so, and it still feels like a good way to spend your money, then sure.

And for the record: I assumed my purchase price would be completely lost when all was said and done. If I get anything back in salvage value, it will be found money. I was still okay with the purchase. It's not much different than e.g. buying a new boat.

That said, I do think it might make more sense to buy something other than SSR. But only if you can swing the difference without financing.

In my situation (SSR flip), that would be more or less an additional $8760 USD to get the direct perks + an additional 30 points at $180 per point.
That makes me feel better than $36K USD for 150 direct...

And that doesn't mean I wouldn't buy more later in the run.

You could still sell the SSR if you bought RIV or Poly.

Maybe Im not following. Is it because you need to own SSR? The extra 30 points would be at a cost of $292 per point. Unless you want to stay at restricted resorts I cant say member perks are worth that much extra money. Especially to own a resort that is very easy to book.

At that amount I think I'd rather buy another resale contract to add more points.

No I'm looking at ways to minimize the premium cost to get the perks (Access to Sorcerer Pass, MMB, and of course MM events). The restricted resorts are not a factor to me, and it is possible to work around (buy resale. rent points. rent cash).
The other perks, there aren't many ways to work around them.

I'm trying to follow the comments so far and might have missed something. Do you want to own SSR for SSR stays? If so, go for it. If it's worth it to you personally because I don't think it'll make sense for most people here. If you are buying SAP+ points, I still think Poly is the better option. Of course, you and I are different people with different travel plans.

I was saying if you take perks out of the equation you are paying that much per point to flip them since your flip yields 30 more points.

Sorcerers pass could be worth it if you know you want one and would buy a pass anyway. It would take a little over 2 years of buying the sorcerers pass for a family of 3 to make the up the cost difference if you factor the extra 30 points at $180pp. I wouldnt factor them at 180. I would factor them in this way, if you took what resale value is at a conservative $100 pp it would take just under 4 years of buying the sorcerers pass to make up for it.

Hopefully this makes sense.
