Spring Direct Incentives 2/9-4/27

That is a very, very good reason not to buy SSR direct. I don't think anyone should buy SSR direct unless they will be happy staying there.

Myself, having stayed in a 1 BR at SSR just this past weekend, I am going to give this SSR sale some thought. I liked SSR much more than I thought I would. (And I have my own thread if anyone wants to offer input, which I greatly welcome :-))
I've always maintained that I don't have a problem with the resort, it really is lovely. It is the fact that if you want your points to have a purpose besides purely value, whether that's sentimental or wanting a specific hard to book room category or wanting to be at a certain resort consistently in a difficult to book season like December for most resorts or summer for Aulani, you're likely better off picking another home resort.

As I said, I don’t have it. I just wanted to point out that we should not assume the guide left it out purposefully and it’s more likely that sales wasn’t quite made aware of all the new discounts right away.
I’m not questioning you that you don’t have the email as I said mine was in my junk folder and I wouldn’t have seen it if it hadn’t been posted in this thread. I never said that a guide left it out purposely.
My statement was and still is that the guides should have known about this and if they did not, that is bad management. This extra discount was not something that just came up as let’s give them an extra $1,000 off if they have a Disney Visa. DVC had to work with Chase on this as this email was sent by Chase and should have been relayed to the sales team by DVC management. As to whether that was done or not before we started reaching out we will most likely never know for sure.

Anyone know if you can use all of the following incentives together?
  • $1000 anniversary incentive.
  • $500 for D23 Golf
  • $1000 for Disney Chase Visa
  • Incentives per point off based on purchase size.
It depends on the resort, but it seems all are available for CFW, VDH, PVB, AUL, and RIV. My guide said he is rewriting my contract to include D23 Gold, anniversary, and Disney Visa with the base incentive.

They are not all available for SSR.

I’m starting to believe you need a DVC therapist!🤣
Me too, I feel a loss of control and euphoric when exciting incentives come out and guilt when calling the guide for more like im doing something bad and calling a drug dealer for more supply.

I overanalyze everything and could change my mind if I feel something is better. I do feel like the board has the best intentions and provides therapy and talks me out of things, but they also share my addiction and can be enablers if they like the current path im taking

Does anyone here have experience with having a contract rewritten for the new incentive period and can say how it affects future reservations? My Poly contract is being rewritten just for pricing, not changing amount of points or anything. But I have two future reservations scheduled with those points. Do you think those reservations will be given up when they redo the contract? I wouldn't be terribly fussed over it, but if there is a way to prevent it I'd like to know. My guide likely would not have any idea, so I'm asking the experts here 🙂

I rewrote like…5 times or something outrageous. So yes, I have an idea.😊

New contracts will be added. They will move your reservation points to the new contracts (don’t touch your existing reservations yourself). Then the old contracts will be removed. Your guide should definitely know this; mine did!

That is sad.

DVC is slowly becoming more-and-more like other timeshares (less transparency, more pressure).
I would hesitate to make sweeping conclusions about DVC and how they approach sales based on 1 or 2 random people on the internet posting something. My guide is wonderful, we have now bought 2 separate times with him. I have never felt one second of a sale static or pressure or anything. I’ve gone back and forth with them on multiple options, looking at different resorts, do small add ons with no incentives etc. Every organization has bad employees. After my experience with HGV I’ll take DVC any day.

Thank you. Still waiting for the guide from the cruise to respond. This will save us a bit. If my math is correct…

$1000 anniversary / 200 = $5/pt
$1000 Disney Visa Incentive / 200 = $5/pt
D23 Gold $500 / 200 = $2.5/pt

$243 - 12 (200-250 incentive) - 5 - 5 - 2.5 = 218.5
Using MB 20/pt brings it down to $198.5/pt. :love:That’s a savings of $2/pt with these incentives over the old ones. Thats something I am not used to with the mouse.

Additionally, save a few pennies on dues because the contract redrawn date would be a few days later.

For us, the difference at PVB direct vs resale is well worth buying direct knowing 2042 means resale today will not have access to all Epcot area resorts. PVB becomes the best Epcot non-bus (no car) resort. Still, we want access to RIV and whatever BCV and BWV become (knowing we will be in our late 70s-80s). Be prepared mentality… we will probably have two scooters.

If anyone was curious, after a good night sleep, I decided not to forgo my CCV direct contract I had drawn up in the previous cycle for SSR. It was tempting but I couldn’t let CCV go, especially with a much longer shelf life. I shall be content with my 529 direct. Now I have to decide what I’ll call my CCV/VGF mashup of points? Rustically Posh? Glamour in the woods? 🤔

Thanks for the math! @airjay75

I think that's the right move. I'm backing off SSR myself. With CCV points, you can secure stays at CCV. With SSR, unless you're only interested in 1 BRs during non-peak travel, CCV is going to be tough to get. And, while SSR is a perfectly lovely resort, it is no WL IMO.

The only thing that really intrigued me at SSR were the treehouses. They are supposed to be renovated in summer 26, I am sure they’ll be really nice after that. However, with 60 of them, I just don’t see the demand being through the roof there during popular times of the year like at CCV.

That wasn't my point. I deal with this on the cash side and I can tell you that there have indeed been specials for the Disney Visa or other promotion that I heard from clients before I officially got the email that morning.

Things can and do make it out to consumers sooner.

It was clarified that when the person called back that the guide didn’t realize the person had the Disney Visa so it obviously was there.

I was simply trying to give a different perspective from someone who has been in that exact same position.

I love SSR, but no way would I buy it direct when you could get it resale in the $80s or $90s per point.
Same. I considered the current SSR sale just to get the blue card. But after running the numbers I just cant justify the $60 premium ($150 direct vs $90 resale).

No, it should not be impacted since there would not be a change in the membership.

You will be fine.
