Who's up for a Spring Break thread?:cool1:

Is anyone taking any fun spring break trips this year? I know with the economy being as depressing as it is right now, many of us are not traveling the way we would normally do. My husband has some FF miles so we are thinking about taking the kids on a trip to D.C. (which has alot of free attractions) and then heading down to Busch Gardens in Williamsburg, VA. Still kicking the idea around. We live in Louisiana and our "spring/easter break" falls sometime in mid/late April (maybe around the 17th?? I need to double check).

What about yall? Where are you going/doing? When is your "break"? :yay:

Our Spring Break is April 11 and we are headed to Vero Beach using DVC points! :cool1: We haven't been there in about 3 years so we are pretty excited. :cheer2:

Our break is from April 8-13th and we will be visiting Washington DC!!!!!!!!!!!!!:cool1: We just went last summer and LOOOOVED it!!!!! CAN'T WAIT TO GO BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!:goodvibes

DD and I are heading to the Destin/Pensacola area to visit DS at Eglin Air Force Base. We'll spend the first weekend with him, take a 5-night cruise (M-F) out of Mobile, and then another weekend with him, for a total of 11 days! We've booked a condo on the beach which looks absolutely gorgeous.

Cancun with a DVC trade!:cool1:

Our flights were paid for when we got bumped at Thanksgiving and got $800each in travel vouchers. I was about to cancel our trip when we got bumped. I am so ready for this vacation and so far it has not cost me anything! I know we need to eat when we are there but if I was home I would pay $300 for daycare for the week so that will help. I am hoping to keep our total cash out for the trip to under $1000 including excursions and airport transfers.

We will be in Disney!!!!!!:cool1:

This will be the 1st time we have ever surprised the kids w/ a trip, so that will make it even more exciting. (still haven't decided how to tell them yet)

We used to go to DW in the fall and take the kids out of school, but DH started teaching 2 years ago, so we decided to do Spring Break instead of summer.

We are using our tax refund to pay for the trip.

Last year we went to Busch Gardens during Spring Break and had a blast!!

Here's hoping everyone has a great trip!!:goodvibes

We will be at WDW in 23 days, 7hrs, 55 min.....(oh you get the picture).

We are staying at BWV for the first time. DS8 is really looking forward to the clown/roller coaster slide thingy there.

I am ready for 8 days of frenetic Disney activity.

:thumbsup2

I will be in Athens, Greece, and London!!!

I am studying abroad in Ireland right now, and our break is Feb 12-22. I cannot wait I am so beyond excited.

Our Spring Break is March 30-April 4. We are sneaking out a few days early, heading down to San Diego for 3 days (Sea World & Legoland), then driving up to Anaheim for 3 days at Disneyland. We are very excited!!!

I have a question for you guys. Our boys know about the trip, I'm kind of bummed, I should have kept it a surprise. Would it be mean to tell them we can't go now and surprise them or should I just leave well enough alone? :confused3 Maybe I'll keep the "surprise" for next spring break.

I don't know if it would be mean or not. I think it depends on the temperment of your children (easily heartbroken vs. water-off-a-duck's-back) and your family. If you wanted to suprise them at this point, I might concider telling them that you are still going but won't be able to take the time off until a later date. Then when you go earlier than they expected, you will get back some of that suprised excitement you're so bummed about losing. Either way....they will be so excited to be there, it won't matter. Have a blast on your trip!!!!:goodvibes

Thanks madcam, I think your right. At this point I guess it won't matter, what will matter more is our fun times and memories we will have and make. :thumbsup2
