I am a teacher, and my DD is enrolled in a school that is in a different school system from the one I teach in. This year, our spring break was in March -- the 2nd week. She's on break this week. Although this is her first year in school, I've known that it's been like this the entire time I've been teaching at my school (4 years now).
Our official calendar for next year has just been approved, and our spring break will be in April next year.
I talked to a teacher from her school today, and he said they decided that next year their spring break will be in March!
I got to have two whole days of excitement at the thought that we would be on break at the same time next year.
They are also taking out their fall break in October (we'll get a week) and giving them a full week at Thanksgiving (we get three days). I guess I should just be grateful that we'll technically start and end at the same time.
So much for that theory of teaching so you can be off when your child is off.
Anyone else have a similar experience with school calendars?
