Spring break trip; which resort?

Planning a Disney trip; its my sister, 23 year old niece, my 21 year old daughter, my 16 year old son and myself. We are from Minnesota, living thru a polar vortex right now; it is cold! We love all the parks! We are interested in these 3. Riviera standard deluxe studio, Contemporary tower lake view, or Grand Floridian garden view. The other option would be 2 standard rooms at Coronado springs. Coronado Springs would be cheaper. We will have a car. My sister is an amputee and uses a prosthetic. I do believe she may end up in her wheelchair by end of trip. The site gets easily irritated from walking in hot temps. We will probably do park hoppers. Looking for a hotel that has good wifi as it is not my daughters spring break from college. We are also interested in a place that has good food options. Any insight into these resorts. Our favorites are Disney Yacht/beach club and Polynesian. Poly is too expensive and Beach/yacht club not available. Never stayed at any of the resorts listed above. Thank you.

That's a lot of adults in one room/studio. Given the possibility of a wheelchair being involved i would choose two rooms over one....even if that means you have to stay moderate versus deluxe.

If you are open to renting DVC points, you might want to check into that. Some places have 1BRs that fit 5 more comfortably than a regular room would.

We stayed at the GF for the first time in 2019 and had a great experience! It is such a beautiful resort and the dining options are great. The Grand Floridian Cafe is underrated in my opinion. The QS Gasparilla Grill is solid and Narcoossee's is an excellent signature dining option. Close proximity to MK with the monorail and they even have a walkway to MK now. We all really enjoyed the pools too!

I would absolutely do the 2 rooms. 5 people with 1 room and 1 bathroom? That’s a lot. Plus Coronado springs is super fun!! And save the money for more souvenirs or nicer food options.

Coronado looks nice. But there would be 2 people in 1 room, seems like such a waste. Are the benefits of staying at 1 of the deluxe resorts worth maybe 5 people in 1 room, plus to be able to walk, take a monorail or the sky liner to one of the parks is awesome. If some one is in the shower, isn't there public restrooms/ I'd almost wear an adult diaper if it becomes an issue.

If I were you I would get two rooms or a DVC villa. 5 people in a standard room is a lot. I wouldn’t even do that at a run of the mill Hampton Inn. Having all those people in one room just to be at a deluxe wouldn’t be worth it

Does anyone in your group have an AP? The AP rates for Saratoga and Old Key West in a 1 bedroom are not terrible. I saw some early March dates where the AP rate was 40% a 1BR and came out to around $450/night. Obviously you'll have to check for your exact dates to know for sure.

If not AP i think WDW also has a 35% off room rate promo too....but I did not check availability on that rate

We're paying $451 per night for an OKW 1-bedroom during spring break with the 35% off promo for the general public (note: they always say "up to 35%" or "up to 40%" so I think that may be why the discounts are the same in reality). Agree that may be a better option for OP as 5 adults in one room would be tight.

If you do opt for a studio, I think the best option is Riviera. The studios there are quite large and have a split bathroom with 2 showers. It would still be tight, but it has a pretty spacious entryway area where you could put a wheelchair (our large stroller fit there great). And the murphy bed is nice and comfy--better than the pull out couches at CR or GF. I also think Riviera has the advantage of a single building with no long walk to the room like you may have at Coronado, which might be a big advantage if your sister is burnt out of walking or using the wheelchair. Food is also great at Riviera--they have my favorite Disney quick service restaurant--plus you can easily take the skyliner to eat at the Crescent Lake resorts.

Pretty much all the Disney resorts have the same wifi, which is, frankly, not very good. I've tried to work remotely on Disney vacations but the connection speed if you need to use a citrix type remote in is pretty bad.

I would definitely do two rooms with 5 adults. Have you considered Swan/Dolphin? You would get the location of BC/YC but the cost will, most likely, be less. At Swan/Dolphin, you could do two rooms and even call the resort directly to ask about a suite set-up (two bedrooms with a living room in the middle. We did a two bedroom suite at Dolphin one year and had two bedrooms, a living room and 3 full bathrooms for the price of a standard Poly room.

I second Riviera. I think the two showers, the space, the food options, and the skyliner best fit your family. I don’t like splitting up into 2 rooms, even if I request connecting rooms.

I would choose the Riviera because it is so relaxing and many hidden nooks and crannies to people watch. They have awesome Smart TVs .
Guest Services is perfection. So many reasons to stay at Riviera and I can not think of one reason to go anyplace else. You will be very happy with this choice for your family.
