So we were planning on going to Florida for 10days to 2 weeks this Spring (haven’t decided exact number yet, but we are homeschoolers, so flexible.) Typically we go in the September-November time frame due to lower crowds, costs, and the Halloween Party, but due to various reasons, a Fall trip does not seem a possibility in the next few years. We stay off site in a time share (Bonnet Creek) and have bonus points so we can “afford” to go in the Spring this year. We have done February once, but only went to the Magic Kingdom one day and it was very crowded (Presidents Day week- unknown to us at the time…we thought it would be lower crowds in February
) but we had a good time as we optimized fast passes.
So, as we are really needing to book our Spring accommodations while they are still available, I told my husband that we need to pinpoint our dates. We can go anytime in February or March. I asked my husband what we planned on doing while in Florida as that might affect our dates. I was expecting him to say skip the Disney parks or only go to one park as has been the case the last three years, but he shocked me when he said he wants to do the Disney parks while we are there and focus on them. Those are words I never thought I would hear! I was so excited until I started researching when the best time would be to go and all I see are crowds crowds crowds. I then got excited when it said the first week in March should be good until I read on another site it was Mardi Gras and therefore it will be packed that week as well. Now I don’t know if it will be better to just wait until we can do the trip at a better time or to go for it. We have not done a big Disney trip for four years due to expenses, but have gone to all the parks in the past three years so we have seen all “new” stuff except what has opened in the past year or so. I thought maybe we will just go to each park once (no hopping), but then when you look at the price of tickets, it just makes sense to do 10 days financially since we will be down there long enough and the difference is only like $100 a ticket. But looking at predicted crowd calendars and everyone saying how packed it is during spring break season has me second guessing no everything. I knew to avoid Presidents’ Day week, but it seems like every week is just as bad in February and March.
So would you go for it and make the best of crowded parks or would you wait until you could go during non-spring break times? If you say you would go for it, what two week period in February or March do you think would be the most manageable? (Note, we also have the option to postpone this to Spring 2023, but not sure it will be any better then.)
Obviously only our family can make the final decision, but I was awake half the night last night because this is stressing me out (and I tend to overthink things), so hoping someone has insight that will provide guidance. Thanks!
