Hey Guys, just a quick review of our trip this past week which was a blast.....
Resorts - AKV Room 5544 2BR Savanah view
We were worried about being on the 5th floor and not seeing any animals. But we had savanah view and there were animals outside of our room all day. There were 3 to 4 giraffes that would be out there off and on and my kids loved it. The last stay we were at OKW, and I missed the HUGE room as we had 8 people in our room. The room is very nice and the safari theme was great. LOVED the pool. It was HUGE and the weathere at the beginning of the week was cool - so the pool was empty.
Night vision goggle were neat at night - wish there were more animals out there for the night viewing, but it was the first time using the goggles - kids liked it. We did not do the restaurants, but they seemed very nice. Service was great everywhere. Wish they had a Community Hall place, but I think they will when the new section opens up at Kidani.
SSR 2BR - The Springs
Nice stay, we were close to everything - Food, Pool, bus, boat, etc... The weather became nicer and the pool in the afternoon was PACKED - Spring Break. Reminded me of the Cadyshack scene, wish I brought a Baby Ruth bar to clear them out!!! The resort is very beautiful and had fun walking around. Not much to say, liked the community hall where we got basketballs, life preservers, movies, etc...
PARKS - this was the first time we did not do Disney parks, only Universal/IOA.
The Spring break crowds were horrible by 10:30am each day. One day we were lucky and stayed one step ahead of the crowds. By 11am it would not be uncommon to see 60-120 minute waits on the popular rides. We did follow previous advice and do the shows in the afternoons. Some of the "hidden" things we realy enjoyed....10 minute magic show, and had a blast at the Shrek/Donkey picture station where the Donkey basically makes fun of each group taking pictures with them - very funny.
The rides at IOA/Universal are fun, but the service, scenery, and "feel" is not Disney. But still a fun place, we had a good boat driver during the JAWS rides that was funny because he seemed like a guy from the wiggles trying to say how dangerous it was , but with a friendly/happy expresion...had to be there.
SPring Break
Just a quick note, this was our first time coming at a peak season and even though we did not go to the Disney parks - it felt packed. We heard a family by the pool saying that Magic Kingdom was closed at 1pm on a Tuesday because it had reache capacity. So if you do go during this time...have a plan and the old faithful advice of hit the parks early.....
See Ya
