Spring Break Sparkles...And We Get Stuffed! 3 Ladies Dining Through Disney

Wonderful reviews! Your Ma must be so proud of you. I'm impressed not only with your writing and review style but also with your level of knowledge about food. :) Really enjoyable to read. My DS gets shaky if he doesn't eat on time. In the parks I carry dried fruits, nuts and granola bars. Don't know if your sis would eat any of those but they help. Thanks for your hard work, can't wait to read more.

WOW on the sunshine seaons reviews the food looks yummy but i mean as much money at the food costs they can't afford a divided plate?! :sad2: thats too bad
Chefs de France was in my top ADR picks and even though u ordered none of the things I was considering :lmao: except for the creme brulee
thats a dissapointment to read the food was eh okay for those prices I would think knock your socks off good! :rotfl:
keep up the good reviews

Hi, I;m just joining in on your reviews and they're great so far. I'm so disappointed in Chefs De France. I read these boards every day and I never knew that there was only a select menu to choose from and also that you don't get refills on your pop. My DH is going to hate that!!

I'm pretty surprised about item selection and refils. Nno limit for choices last year, but could have changed in 2009 though. But the refills! Last year they were plenty and came fast, even before our glass were finished. We joked with the server about that, since it is not something were are used here, and neither are the French. She told us it was drilled into them, because it was so important to Americans.

Was the limited selection because you choose the "set meals" which included an appetizer (not normally on the DDP)?

If you were willing to forgo the appetizer, could you have ordered any entree on the menu?

Sucks about your tart...when I had it a couple of months ago, it was perfect...I guess they had been sitting out WAY too long.

Whispering Canyon Cafe was another one of those last minute switches for the Dining Plan. We decided to save a bit of money and not get Park Hopper tickets once we got to Disney. So this day became Animal Kingdom Day, complete with Extra Magic Hours, and the dinner we had planned at Tony's simply wouldn't do. The options in AK were so limited, and there was hardly anything available, so we decided to do lunch at a place I'd heard a lot about, and it turned out to be one of the best meals of the trip with excellent service!

Maggie started things off with this Cotton Candy milkshake. The Whispering Canyon Cafe allows for you to get a shake for your drink, so that's exactly what we did! Cotton Candy was one of the "flavours of the day", along with Bubble Gum. Mags and I were both surprised when it was blue...we had been expecting pink! It was a great way to start the meal

For her meal Maggie chose the Cheeseburger with bacon, plain and dry, cooked medium rare with french fries. Big surprise!
Positive: "Juicy, flavourful meat, fries nicely salted"
Negative: No comment.

Maggie got the Apple Pie for dessert. I was very impressed with our server, because he listed off all the dessert options by memory. Although she was happy with her dish, she was a little jealous of the decoration on mine.
Positive: "Dense, great apple flavour, crumple top and icing"
Negative: No comment.
Total Score: 4.5

Though Ma didn't get a milkshake, she did get some cornbread! She explained to the server that she loved cornbread and asked if there was anyway she could get a little piece. Chad, our server, brought three pieces of cornbread with butter. It was delicious!

Another cheeseburger at the table! Ma got hers medium rare with bacon, mayo, lettuce, tomato, and onion with french fries and a Diet Coke.
Positive: "Bun is really good, very fresh veggies"
Negative: "Meat not medium rare but still very good"

Although at first Ma said she was going to skip dessert, she eventually got the Smores Cheesecake, and like a weirdo picked off the good part! (IE the marshmallows and chocolate!)
Positive: "Delicious"
Negative: "Picked off the Smores topping"
Total Score: 4.5

Like any self respecting chubster, I started things out with a strawberry milkshake. Usually I'm not a big fan of strawberry milkshakes, but this one was divine. The ice cream was really thick, and I loved how they came in Mason jars.

I got the Chicken Sandwich for lunch with bacon, cheese, onion, and tomato. It came with an Espresso BBQ that I asked for on the side, as well as french fries. I'm picky about sauces, but this was tangy, with a nice edge of bitterness. I really enjoyed it!
Positive: "Coffee gave BBQ a nice edge, very tasty fries, thick ice cream shake"
Negative: No comment.

My dessert was the Chocolate Mousse Layer Cake. It came nicely decorated with sprinkles, an edible token, and little chocolate roll that I gave to Maggie.
Positive: "Cold, beautiful, tasty, light"
Negative: No comment.
Total Score: 4.5

I would just like to point out that our server, Chad, was amazing. The lunch crowd was very low. I'd heard that they're usually very loud at Whispering Canyon Cafe, but that was not the case today...I don't know if that was because of it being lunch time, or because of there being hardly anyone eating there. Regardless, the theme and the food were both fantastic. I would recommend it to anyone!

Dinner at Wolfgang Puck Express up next.

Love your report so far!! Can't wait for more installments!!

great reviews so far. keep 'em coming!! ok, guess i need to let the server at sunshine seasons know to please put my salad on a separate plate. i totally feel the same way about mixing salad with hot foods- yuck! i am looking forward to your WPE review.

thanks!!:flower3:

Great report! Love the reviews. Can't wait to read about Wolfgang Pucks (going in May). Our DDs love the Whispering Canyon, they still talk about all the antics our waitress pulled on them - that was in Jan '07! It was a little loud then but our girls blended right in!

Just found this report, and am enjoying it immensely! I so need to go to the Whispering Canyon Cafe, after seeing your pics and reading your review! It's one of those places I've just put off going to, and I can see that we have missed out big time. Those shakes and desserts......look absolutely yummy!

You're gonna be kept pretty busy then - some of the best spelling errors ever are made on this board :rotfl: (my personal favourite is dinning instead of dining)[/QUOTE]
