Hello. I am looking for running routes around DL for spring break. I usually just run on hotel treadmill but this time I would like to run outside. I have a few questions. I will be staying on Katella. What is the safe parameters outside of DL? Can you run through Downtown Disney before things open and if so, how early do you need to go before things open up? Is there also security at the bag check points?

Any other suggestions or help would be appreciated!

I did a run around Disneyland and felt safe (I ran around 4pm so there was sunlight and people around) I ran from Harbor; made a right on Katella, right on Disneyland Dr, right on Ball, and another right on Harbor. So this is pretty much running around the outside of Disney. There are a couple freeway overpasses that you have to go over, so it can be a little challenging (I had to walk each over pass :faint:).

If you run early enough, you may be able to run through DTD. But, there are days when Disney opens at 8 am, and Early Entry or Magic Morning will be at 7 am. So I'm guessing that security will be there around 6 am to check bags.

Kriss - thanks so much. You have given me a good idea on a route. I was kind of worried about the safety aspect especially after the incident last year during the Tink run.

I didn't know there was an incident during Tink - it was transparent to anyone I knew down there. Something early in the run?

When I'm there I just run the perimeter around the outside of the parks, not including Downtown Disney because I hate dodging people. I think I mapped out a 3 mile loop from the road behind the Grand Californian and out around that way. It was a nice run. You could extend it by going into some of the more residential areas, too.

I was there July/Aug 2014 and ran the Katella, Harbor, Ball, Walnut loop. I ran with a running partner in the morning before going to the park. The only stechy part of the run was crossing the street at Ball and Disneyland Drive: lost tourists driving too fast, reading signs and not looking out of pedestrians.
