Spring Break Poll

Thinking about traveling in March and wondering when most school districts have spring break. Our is always the week before Easter, but I know some areas are a week or even two or three before that.

Do you live in either Massachusetts or Maine? We used to live in Massachusetts, and I always thought it was so we could celebrate the Boston Marathon. Later I found out that Massachusetts and Maine are the only 2 states that celebrate Patriots Day. But I think the other New England states do too.

Always used to be the week before and week after Easter but in the last decade most schools have gone to 1 week President's Day in February and then 1 week either the week leading up to Easter Sunday and then also "Easter Monday" or Good Friday through the next week.

I no longer have a K-12 student but public schools here have 1.5 weeks off at the end of Feb into early March, and another week off usually the 3rd week of April.

Massachusetts, funny how Patriots day is only celebrated by a few states considering how important it was to the birth of the USA.

Note… week of March 15 is spring break for my university. Week of April 6 is when my brothers have spring break through their district.

My return to Disney would otherwise be an exclusively adult visit.

The school system here goes back to school Jan 5th 2026 and they don’t get another week off until week of March 29th.

We’re visiting WDW April 28th to May 5th. Fingers crossed that if it’s hot it’s not yet too humid, and hopefully good park hours yet nothing above average crowds. I’m excited! Spring is a wonderful time to visit.

Just checked my son’s college in NJ - spring break will be week of March 15th

(I already answered the poll with week of March 29th for our large local school district)

Looks like these 2 weeks are common.

My daughter is in college and her Spring break is March 15. Public schools in my area is the week before Easter.

Where we are in Texas we describe spring break as being the second week or first full week of March. This year it was the 10th, next year it will start on the 9th, and the 8th the year after that. Back in 2022 it started on the 7th which is why I specified full week previously.

DD is now 6 and in school but DW actually works for the school district and so to mitigate her taking time off when students are in school we typically follow the school calendar for trips ourselves. Since we get plenty of hot and humid in the Houston area we don't even consider summer trips, leaving Spring Break, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. While we love the holiday theming, we often choose Spring Break because of the crowds.

We have gone over Spring Break several times including 2015, 2020, 2022, and 2025. We always arrive late Thursday/early Friday the week before Spring Break officially starts, so March 6th this year, and check out the Saturday at the end of Spring Break. That gives us 8 park days Friday to Friday and without fail the crowds are noticeably larger at the end of those trips than the beginning.
