Spring Break or last week of May?

I'm trying to decide whether to take the kids to the parks over my son's spring break (March 16-17) or over the last week of May (May 25-26 with the 25th being Memorial Day). We are also planning to go camping on the beach for the rest of the week over the vacation. But as far as crowds and park activities, which is the better week to go? We would be going Monday and Tuesday of the vacation week. We can go camping whenever so the park is the deciding factor in the planning.
Any suggestions?

It depends on what you want to do, personally even though I am not a huge fan of crowds I would rather go around memorial day because I believe there won't be as many ride closures and if I remember correctly the diamond celebrations start mid-may or towards the end of May so that could be fun.

I would go during your week of spring break. Around here, in LA, our spring break does not start until the week of March 30.

I would do spring break. That is still early compared to many spring breaks so crowds won't be nearLy as bad as late May.
The weather is still good and beaches won't be crowded if that's something you wanted to see in March too.

It depends on how much crowds affect your trip. Your "Spring Break" is on the early(ish) side; the AP blackouts are the week before and after Easter, which is generally when DLR expects the height of the Spring Break crowds. So in that way, I would except moderate crowds during your March dates. The trade-off is that there will (probably) be some major rides down for refurbishments (the latest rumors indicate Matterhorn, Soarin', and Peter Pan may be down - everything is rumors at this point).

For the last few years, Memorial Day weekend has been considered the start of the summer season. So most refurbs should be over and the park should be in 60th anniversary mode (or at least starting things). That being said, the crowds will also be likely high because it's the end of the holiday weekend.

So, if you want to avoid very high crowds, I would probably plan on March. If you want the best chance of seeing the 60th anniversary activities and less ride closures, I'd go in May.
