My family and I (2 adults and 2 kids) are looking to rent DVC for the first time for our upcoming spring break trip after Easter. We are planning to stay four nights, but can’t decide which studio to choose from or how to break up our trip. Just looking for some thoughts or opinions on the following options we have narrowed it down to:

Option one: all four nights at the Poly with a Lake View (how bad is construction noise?)

Option two: 2 nights at the Poly and 2 nights at Animal Kingdom Lodge with a savanna view

Option three: 2 nights at the Poly and 2 nights at Boulder Ridge

Option four: :2 nights at Boulder Ridge and two nights at Animal Kingdom Lodge with Savannah View

Thank you, everyone for your help!

Any of your choices would be fine with a ? mark by Animal Kingdom because it will be undergoing renovation next year (and personally I would not split a 4-night stay into two different resorts). Both Poly and Boulder Ridge were recently renovated and thus either would be fine. There is not much construction noise from the new building going up at Poly because that building actually is not very close to other Poly rooms. If room size is an issue, be aware that Poly studios are much larger (447 sq ft) than those at BRV or AKV (close to 360 sq ft). Also, the Poly and BRV studios have the extra Murphy bed, somewhat less than twin size, that pulls out from the cabinet beneath the TV and AKV does not have that.

Be aware that you could have an availability issue. We are only 5-6 months away from any dates in April. Owners of a particular DVC resort can reserve that resort beginning 11-months from date of arrival. Owners can start reserving at DVC resorts they do not own beginning 7-months out from arrival. The result of that schedule is that many rooms can be difficult to get if one is closer than 7-months out because they are already filled. April after Easter week is usually somewhat better in having rooms last beyond 7-months out, but if you intend to rent, you should assume you need to act immediately by contacting a member or a rental agency to attempt to get a room.

I agree 100% with @drusba. I would not split a 4 night stay, you could be homeless until at least 4pm on the day you move resorts. And you do need to book now, availability becomes spotty once you pass the 7 month mark. Poly might be okay as well as AKL, BRV might be a little more difficult. You may actually have to split your stay to get what you want! Start looking for a DVC owner or a broker to rent points ASAP!

I agree with those two too

The construction at Poly shouldn’t impact your trip much if at all.

We have 4 nights booked Poly DVC lake view this December followed by 3 nights Boardwalk. I’ve come to the conclusion split stays need to be at least 3 nights without moving. Otherwise it’s too much disruption and not enough time to experience a resort, especially with park time mixed in. I’d lock in Poly asap.

How old are your kids?
I would go with an option that has you at the same place all 4 nights. We do split stays a lot with just two adults and we won't do less than 3 nights at each place. You just don't get enough time in one place to really appreciate it and enjoy it with only two nights. And with your trip only being 4 nights, you don't want to have to spend precious vacation time packing up and moving to a new resort.

I would do all at Poly. If more than 4 days, I would split, but Poly has a lot activities and it's a great spot. I would stick with that.

I agree with the Poly all 4 nights. Second choice would be BRV all 4 nights. It's too short of a trip to do a split stay for me and I would stay away from AKL because we don't have any refurbishment information yet.

Since I have a trip booked for that week at Poly and I am missing one day I will let you know there is no availability except waitlist at this point.

What they said. 😂

Definitely not a split on a short trip. The Poly is a good choice!

I agree not to split up 4 nights . You will not take advantage of any resort if you do that . Poly for sure . We love it there !
