Spring 2015 Dapper Day

Forgot to upload pic of middle girl's outfit last night. Will do that and one of my new vest tonight.

Oh cool! Thanks for the tutorial, DizMe. Now all I need to do is copy off my most recent 783 pictures from my phone to my computer, and we will be all set. LOL. I also need to dye my fabric and sew the dress. But I'll get there!

AND WOW I bow down to your knitting powers. Amazing!!!

Oh wow I can post pics from my phone! This is great! Here's my dole whip/tiki room hat :)

I love your Dole Whip hat!!! How adorable! We'll be able to spot you with that for sure! Can't wait to see it in person!! :)

Thanks everyone! It's pretty silly, but if I can't wear a silly hat on dapper day at Disneyland, then where in the world CAN I wear such a thing? My husband got a rockabilly/bowling style shirt with green and black panels. The green panels are decorated with tikis, and the buttons all look like tikis. My boys (3 and 7) are wearing khakis with green and white plaid button downs and yellow sweater vests. The boys have little newsboy caps, and my husband has a straw fedora. We've all got pins from an etsy seller that say "dole whip fan club".

Here is Charlotte's Dress

And the vest I'll be wearing with some of my bow tie options

Not sure whether to bring my fedora or newsie cap.

Great outfits, Whoever!! Bring both hats....just like women bring more than one pair of shoes! LOL!!
Any more thoughts on the meet? We're trying to decide on a time for dinner reservations, but I've been holding off to see what time the meet will be.

So change of plans on my disneybound. I found the perfect fabric yesterday, but it is much more tiki room than dole whip, but that's ok. I may need to make some changes to the hat, but I'll see how the yellow goes with it when the fabric arrives (which may not be for two weeks -- I'll be cutting this close!)

Here's a thumbnail -- hopefully you can get the gist of it from this.

kangamama, that fabric is adorable! I love it, and the coconut purse is fantastic!

You guys are all so creative! I'm just in awe.

Oh wow, Kanga, soooo cute!!! I love both of those! Now, you know there is a Tiki Day in September, right? You'll be all set for that, too!!

We'll be there the Thursday before. Unfortunately we have to leave Saturday evening. So we were going dapper on Saturday morning and then over to Goofy's Kitchen. Since the Expo will be going on that day, we may not stick out too bad. We were thinking this traditional tux and black dress, but seeing this thread makes me think we need to spice it up a little. Or maybe a lot!

I think that's a great look!! The Audrey Hepburn, little black dress with pearls, gloves and a hat or bow in the hair is a classic look! :)

Love, love, love the fabric and purse, kangamama!!! DizMe is right....you need to be there for Tiki Day in Sept!!

While I'd love to attend tiki day, after the fall 2013 dapper day heatstroke experience, I don't think I'll ever go back to DL in September again!

Gatorchris, I think anything goes as long as you feel fashionable and dressed up :)

Thanks for the fabric love. I hope I can do it justice. I'm not much of a seamstress, but I'm going to give it a shot.

Here's my three year old in his dapper day get up. My seven year old has a matching outfit. I realize I'm biased, but I think he's pretty adorable.

Whoever...WOW!!! That dress outfit is adorable!! And you will look your usual super dapper day self. Love the bow ties, especially the yellow and white striped one.

GatorChris, you guys look fabulous, dahling! There is no rule about having to be vintage or have any particular look--it's just about getting dressed up. Many of us go with vintage but it's not necessary. Can I just say here that I love a guy in a tux?? And the dress isn't too shabby, either. You can play it up or down, which is one of the beauties of DD. For the record, though, I think you two look awesome :)

And wow, I've not got enough adjectives, kangamama, to adequately convey the cuteness of your little guy!!! Can't wait to see pics of both kids in their little outfits! Now historically, the few weeks' difference between DD and Tiki Day have made for a drastic difference in temps, so keep that in mind. We're actually considering going to Tiki Day this Sept. over DD for that reason. Well, and because Tiki Day sounds like a ton of fun!

I've not made much progress on my outfit. I haven't been working on it at all. Well, disneyluvr2 texted me a picture of some chandelier earrings at Walmart that were perfect so I ran over and bought them--thanks, DL2! Other than that, I'm right where I was a week ago. DL2 and I went to a few thrift shops but didn't really find anything. I'm not even sure what I'm looking for, though! Sweater? Gloves? Purse? Shoes? I don't know!
