Spring 2015 Dapper Day Planning Thread.

I didn't get to go last spring either, but I remember people commenting that it was really warm. Not as warm as it was for the fall DD, but still very warm. I think I'd almost have it warm than really cold. I'd hate to go to all that work dressing up, then have to cover up with a coat. Let's hope for some perfect 70's weather!

I just ordered a dress from Eshakti for DD, so I may be doing the diet dance too when it comes! I'm crossing my churros that it fits!:lmao:

I second that! That's why I went with a sleeveless dress that would be fine on it's own, but a cardi could work if it had to. I remember bringing a 50's car coat last year and tossing that sucker in the closet when we arrived.

I'm actually hoping for a little cooler weather in the evening. I have a stole from the 50's that I'd love to wear!

I made my first practice pill box hat today, and it actually turned out OK! I need to tweak the size on the next one, then I'll be ready to start on the real thing! I'm getting excited now!! :D

this is what I'm planning, too. I was in DL the weekend after spring DD in 2013, and the weather was pretty much completely perfect. Cool enough to want a sweater, but no need for a coat.

Her practice hat looks amazing!!! I can't wait to see the finished product.

I bought my dress today!! I didn't plan to buy one, but happened to get a 50% off email from eshakti. My oldest dd was kind enough to sign up (since I'm already a customer) so she could get the $35 coupon and she bought it for me :) It was originally $79, but with the sale + the $35 coupon the total cost, including shipping, was $12.90. Gotta love that! It's actually very similar to the dress I wore for the Sept DD (from the same site), but this one is marigold in color, so I'll be easy to spot :) I'm toying with some kind of whimsical ideas to add to it. The trouble is taking them from vague pictures in my head to an actual product. That looks good.

Very nice deal! I just attempted to sign up for their emails. FAIL! LMAO! I tried more than one email address, only to be met with a not a valid email message. Really? Tell that to gmail and yahoo.
:p Anyway, that's okay, because when the weather is a little bit warmer, I'll be joining a clothing optional community! :faint: lol

I just booked a trip for DS(7) and I from March 1-5, so we'll get to see some of Dapper Day, but hopefully most of our trip will have lighter crowds! DS doesn't do well in crowds, but I've always wanted to visit DLR during Dapper Days, so this is a compromise for us. He's usually pretty good about going along with me in dressing up for things, so I'm hoping I can talk him into wearing one of his adorable fedoras and ties. Not sure what I'll wear yet, but I've got a little time to figure it out. DS really likes the idea of DisneyBounding, so he's got me looking for a few things to complete his favorite character outfits.

2 great pieces of news this weekend….1) talked hubby into being dapper as well :) He is a bit shy so this is a big step for him.
2) followed the link from the top of the thread to the Dapper Days page and saw the info about the group booking discount… I called and we are now doing a split stay at GC and DLH!!!!!! NEVER though we would be able to afford GC and amazing deal on DLH!! This works out to almost $400 cheaper than our split stay at Park Vue and DLH!!!--- Maybe I will treat us to dinner at the BB! Squeee!!! I am so excited!!

Quick question - this will be our first time taking part in DD and I'm so excited!! I booked the GCH for the 1st-4th. I do have a ticket question, though…my sister and her husband will be joining us the evening of the 1st and staying one night. I want to get them tickets through the discounted site, but if my BIL ends up having to work late, they wouldn't get there until late Sunday (the 1st). I know if says the tickets are valid 2/24-3/6, but what if they don't actually end up going to the park on the 1st (actual DD)? Can they use their tickets any of the qualifying days, or does one of the days have to include the actual event day? I'm really crossing my fingers they get there in time to dress up with us, but want to cover all of my bases in case they don't.

I have a question guys...has anyone ever booked the hotel and bought the tickets, but DID NOT dress up?? In trying to plan a surprise trip for hubby last minute, but this would definitely be easier on the pocket book.

There's nothing saying you have to go vintage or anything. If you just wear nice clothes you already have, that's still in the spirit of the day.
