Hello everyone! DH and I are looking at going to DL sometime in spring 2013. I'm originally from SOCal, was a passholder in the mid '90s, but haven't been to DL since '05... We've been going to WDW instead. Now, we're looking at going back to my roots (yay!!!), but I find myself feeling like I don't know how to plan for DL anymore.... I feel like such a (gasp) tourist! My biggest question right now is, if we're looking at a time between late February and mid April, when is the best time to go visit....keeping in mind that Presidents Day is February 18 and Easter is March 31? To clarify, by "best time " I mean crowds, weather, and attraction accessibility. Thanks so much in advance!

I think it's going to be pretty crowded no matter when you go during that time because the schools all over the US have their spring breaks spread out around that time. I don't think cars land opening earlier this year is going to help the crowd situation either. Good news is most rides should be running and all that good stuff:hyper:

For us the best trip we ever had was in May. Lovely weather, low crowds and I think almost everything was running except splash.

We went the 3rd week of March this year because that is Oregon's spring break. It was crowded! But, doable. Star Tours and Splash Mountain had long waits, other stuff not more than 30-40min if you were able to get there early and use FP.

This next trip we are going the first week of May hoping to avoid the crowds - before grad week starts though!

Thanks! I was hoping that if we avoided the week before and after Easter we'd be ok??? We don't have kids... So I'm not sure how schools schedule their spring breaks anymore....

We went the last week of April last year and it was pretty quiet and the weather was warm enough during the day for T shirts. My boss went the first week of March last year, which was the week before one of the busiest spring break weeks and he said it was super quiet. The spring break season starts around March 8th and goes through mid- April. The two weeks between presidents week and spring break are probably pretty good and the last week of April through mid-may.

Happy Planning.

Spring Break lasts 4-5 weeks at DLR. It is busiest near Easter but busy the whole time.

Thank you all so much...Hydroguy....that link is huge help! I really appreciate it!

We went the last week in February this year and it was great (aside from leap day). We had one day of rain which was awesome because we didn't mind it and everyone else did, so the park got pretty empty. We just bought some ponchos and even the kids were fine in it. I booked before they announced being open 24 hours for leap day specifically because i thought crowds woul dbe low. They were low EXCEPT for leap day. It was so crowded that we stood in one place while trying to leave for 40 minutes because you couldn't move. Since 2013 is not leap year, I think you will avoid that LOL.

Thanks so much! Mid/late February would be my preference as of now...especially considering we got engaged at DL at that time of year .... But it all depends on what vacation time is available to DH...which we won't know until after the first of the year. I'm not sure if that's cutting it too close. I know it would be for WDW... But maybe not for DL?
