OK, This is strange...but maybe good news??? Our school just released the calendar for NEXT year (2006-2007). They will be closed on Good Friday...but OPEN the following week after Easter. Instead our students are being given the NEXT week off for spring break.

I'm just wondering...does anyone else have any insight this far in advance? It seems to me that even though this is now a school vacation week...it won't be as crowded as the previous week which is the more typical school vacation week following Easter. Make sense??? :confused3

Our children are young 3 & 6 so we've been able to travel w/out having to do school vaca'n weeks. But next yr ds will be in 1st grade, and I'm thinking hmmm, maybe we CAN do it on school vaca'n.....since it's not Easter week and fewer school around the country will be taking it off.

Would appreciate hearing if my logic is right on...or all wet. Thanks. :goodvibes

So far, I've been twice during the Spring Break period (the first week in April). One year it was the week before Easter, the following year it was the week before the week prior to Easter - is that confusing enough? :teeth: Both weeks were crowded, but the first trip was worse. So, I would imagine it will still be crowded, but not as bad as if it were one of the weeks on either side of Easter. Lucky you - I wish we could switch. We always go during Spring Break now and we are good this year, but in 2007 our Spring Break falls the week before Easter again. :scared:

You will always have college spring breaks to deal with, but most school districts seem like they give off either the week before or the week after Easter. If you could go the week after that, the crowds would be a lot less than Easter week.

Our school's SB is always the first full week in April. Growing up, it was always the week after Easter Sunday. I think most schools have SB either the week prior to or after Easter so it is great for us when Easter is in late April or in March. This year is a lucky year.

The schools here have their SB in March this year, with only Friday & Monday taken off for Easter.

However, it looks to be like major changes headed our way in the Florida school system---there's a group of parents fighting to get our schools' start dates moved from the beginning of August to no earlier than one week before Labor Day. That would result in our schools getting out sometime in June, from the looks of it, not to mention altering all other vacation/holiday dates.

Just a heads up for those who do plan their vacations around the locals & their school vacations.

Most schools in NE use the third week of April as their spring break. It is not dependent on Easter, but rather Patriots Day, the beginning of the Revolution. Sometimes like this year it lines up with Easter, and other times it doesn't. We have been in Orlando during both types of break weeks, and really could not tell the difference, it is crowded whether it is Easter or not. May be a few more noticable NE accents if it is not Easter week, but otherwise I have found there to be no difference in the crowd levels.

Our schools don't always follow Easter either. We are going in 2007 and it just so happends that it will be the week prior to Easter that year, just my luck. This will be the first time in a couple of years or so that our SB will surround the Easter weekend. I think it is crowed pretty much from middle March to late April.
