Spring 2005 - When to Go??

I am beginning to think about when to go to WDW next year. We will be travelling with our (then) almost 5-year-old and 2 1/2 year-old (so school isn't an issue). Plan on meeting up with grandparents for part of the trip as well.

We will be staying at the Beach Club, and we would like to be able to take advantage of Storm Along Bay...so we'd like weather maybe up to at least 80 in the afternoon. Which means late March or later, I guess? This year, its pretty warm there right now. But usually in early March I am worried it would be kind of cool for the kids to swim much.

I hate crowds, as most do I'm sure. I would like to avoid the worst times for crowds this time of year, which I understand is Easter and spring breaks. Easter is early in 2005, on March 27th. I'm not sure what that will do for spring breaks...I assume the school districts in my area will still have them in like the third week of April. But I understand that throughout April there are crowds.

That leads me to the end of April/early May. Temps of 62/86 are the average (with record highs only a little above that). While I'd like it to be good for swimming, I also dislike muggy, 90-degree days. Am I risking many of those in early May?

So...with Easter in late March, what do you think the crowds will be like the last week of April/First week of May? I know every year is probably different than the "average", but do you think the weather would be good for swimming in mid-March? How about the crowds then? Is late March-late April best avoided if we want to avoid crowds?

Sorry for all the questions, but any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks.

JEFFREY,

I DONT KNOW ABOUT OTHER DISERS BUT I GO EVERY FEB. (BEFORE PRESIDENTS DAY/WEEKEND) USUALLY THE FIRST WEEK OF THE MONTH. I FIND THE WEATHER TO BE GOOD AND THE CROWDS ARE LIGHT. LAST MONTH WHEN I WAS THERE THE WEATHER WAS IN THE 70'S AND 80'S. NO RAIN THE WHOLE WEEK!!!!!!!

LAH

All of the trips that I have taken to WDW (with the exception of 2) have been the second week of May--the PERFECT time to go!!!!!
There are minimal crowds, no humidity, and it only rained 2 times in all the trips I have made. (Besides, what better place to be on Mother's Day?)
The longest wait time I have ever experience was 15-20 minutes at the Jungle cruise in the MK and the Land boat ride in Epcot. Every other ride was a 5 minute wait and many rides we walked right on to (Small World, Aladdins carpets, Haunted Manision).
It is warm enough to swim and you do not need jackets at night.
It is usually 80-85 during the day and the low at night is about 70.
The only reason we are going in November this year is because my DD is turning 5 and this is where we took her older sis and bro for their 5th b-days. Next year we will return to our May week vacation.:sunny:

Do you want to be able to swim? I know the pools are heated but February would be risky weather-wise if you want to be warm, especially with little ones. I would pick the May dates, but we are from the south (currently freezing up here) and would rather be a little warm than chilly at Disney. I don't think May would be hot at all, but I guess it all depends on what you call hot. A few weeks after Easter should be okay crowdwise as all of us with kids will be back at school, well at least those of us who don't like to take ours out of school! Good luck on your decision and have fun planning!!

My wife and I generally go a couple weeks after Easter. Knock on wood, the weather has always been great and the crowds manageable. As an extra bonus, if you're careful you don't end up paying peak season prices either.

We plan on going Spring 2005 as well. We're looking at late April to early May.

We're planning on early March for 2005. We went the 2nd week of May last year and there was *such* a heatwave!! It was unbearable! I think it was in the low-mid 90's and humid!!! We certainly didn't expect that! I am planning to try and avoid the spring break crowds (both high school 2 week breaks as well as the traditional college week) and also the Easter crowds. I've heard that the week before, during and after Easter are typically pretty crowed. The week before would probably coinside with many school districts spring breaks. You may want to plan either early March which could be around 80 degrees or maybe the 2nd or last week in April. I'd avoid April vacation week! Your best bet would probably be the last week in April if swimming is a priority. Sorry to ramble on so much!! : )
