I thought I read somewhere that you can’t use spray sunscreen on Disney’s islands is this true? I love using my spray sunscreen!

There are no restrictions on what sunscreen you can use. Obviously if you're using spray just be aware of who's around you/what direction the spray is going.

The main thing to be aware of (besides where you spray around others) is that there are a lot of places that now require reef-safe sunscreen and that's not always available in spray form.

And even if it's not REQUIRED (not as of yet in the Bahamas), it's just being a good ocean visitor to do what you can to keep the reefs protected.

An additional reference point, Hawaii requires reef-safe sunscreen.

I have found that if I can't use spray for whatever reason, the next-best option for lotion sunblock is a roll-on applicator. Banana Boat and Sun Bum sell wide-ball roll-on sunscreen, or you can buy refillable roller bottles from Amazon and use whatever lotion brand you like.

For our faces and ears we use a wax-stick formula that is meant for facial use.

real question, do you have a good list? I have seen so many with like "these ingredients are safe" and then a completely different one saying "these are AWFUL" and its the same.....I wish Hawaii had a website hahaha

I got sad that the Sun Bum that I THOUGHT was safe (yay spray!) but then I found it was one of theirs that wasn't.....on SOME list....

Oh interesting. Yeah...when you first look it seems like they are, but the ones that meet Hawaiian standards are the mineral ones.

Ignore the brand name and look at active ingredients for these two chemicals. This is a quote from the Hawaii website:

"Conventional sunscreens typically contain chemicals, such as oxybenzone and octinoxate — two ingredients that have been linked to coral bleaching."

If it contains oxybenzone and/or octinoxate than it is unsafe.
