Where do women go when they are being abused? What I mean is, how do they find a shelter or organization, phone book? And what to look under? The situation is, that dh has a female aquaintance who just contacted him about a "friend" who's husband is abusing her. We are sure the friend is really herself. She is in Washington state. We have no idea what to tell her. Any help would be greatly appreciated! (He talking to her RIGHT NOW)

She could maybe start by going to a hospital or the police station. Even if she doesn't have any bruises/marks right now, they could probably at least give her a referral to a battered women's shelter??

As the other poster said...local police or hospital should be able to direct her. If not, she could check the phone book. I'm sure that there are places listed.

Good luck!!

Here you go. This agency is in Seattle but can help her wherever she is.

If it is after regular business hours and you are experiencing an emotional emergency, please call the Crisis Clinic's 24-Hour Crisis Line at (206) 461-3222,

Thanks so much CindyLu! He's giving her those numbers now!

Here's one that I just found too.

Washington State Coalition Against Domestic Violence - 360/407-0756

Thanks Kelleigh, just gave it to her. He's still talking to her and she's no longer pretending it's a friend, it is her.

I'm so sorry for her, but I'm glad she's reaching out.
