okay..you lost me on the last post...but
I will tell you, during all off our weekend tournaments, games, ect..we have made some great friends, like families.
We spent NEW YEARS eve in a hotel after a wrestling tournament last year and the best time all!
You can make any situation into a good one, if you try.
To be on a sports team you have to make sacrifices, why should it be easy??
Every game day, my DS(12) has to dress up to go to school, do you think he likes wearing dress clothes and dress shoes to school, NO WAY, but the coach thinks it is important, so the boys do it! NO Questions asked.
He has to make sure his bag is packed for game day/or practice days. If he doesn't bring everything, punishment is severe. Teaches responsibility!!!
He would LOVE to go skiing over Xmas break with some friends that don't play basketball....he told them.."let me check my bb practice schedule", came home, yes, he has 3 hours of practice, he sadly called them and told them he could NOT go. He was disappointed, yes, but he knew he had to go to practice. He realizes 38 boys tried out for 12 spots, and he knows the responsiblity and priveledge of making the team.
FYI--guess where he is now...at the YMCA playing basketball with the "boys from the hood"....(sorry)...but, he knows playing those boys makes him better!! He has more dedication, and hard working attitude , than pure natural ability He works for everything he gets....
