Sports: Deflate-Gate

I missed the part where it was proven that Brady "stooped" that low? Plus, Aaron Rogers came right out and said he overinflates, on purpose. So, an admission of "guilt" means nothing but a "more probable than not" holds more water? OK...
Trying to ruin someone else's reputation does absolutely nothing to make Brady look like less of a cheater. Rubbing his dirt on others does not make him clean.

I can't answer as to why he did that. I just read that according to him (Brady), it's normal practice for him to destroy phones and SIM cards every 4 months or so. Why? I have no idea. Should it be investigated to see if he does in fact do this every 4 months? If he does, does that still mean he was hiding something?

LOL, you don't think that maybe since he knew it had been requested in an investigation that maybe this one time he could have held off until ...... say ....... 5 or 6 months before destroying it?

Aaron never admitted that he provided valuable gifts to a part time equipment manager (who called himself The Deflator), who then surreptitiously took-balls-to-a-bathroom-to-alter-them / after-the-refs-had-inspected-them. Nor did AR destroy a cell phone that had been requested by the league's investigator.

Word is, the courts are planning to make him serve the last 4 games of his career.....

I don't think, four games is enough. He got off easy. IMO

About the cell phone. It wasn't required it was asked for. Lets say Brady texts the ball boys and tells them to deflate the balls, wouldn't those texts also have shown up on the ball boys's cell phones?

When the cowboys were the winningest team in football, the other teams couldn't compete so they made the "salary cap" rule. Now the pats are the cowboys of the 70's and the other owners hate them.

Roger Goodell has too many owners he's trying to please.

Based upon how little the "ball boys" earn, could they afford cell phones? Obviously Brady forgot about the clauses in his contract that pertain to "personal conduct!"

Do we really need to go through what is actually happening with this AGAIN? Let me simplify it. After embarrassing the Ravens Brady made a comment that Harbaugh should learn the rules(or something to that affect), wanting to prove that he "knows" the rules -Harbaugh colluded with Indy and put them up to testing the waters regarding the ball inflation rule ...knowing full well that not only do most QB's inflate/deflate to their liking, but that NFL Refs almost never scientifically check the balls. The ploy worked -embarrassing the Patriots and Brady. Not wanting to rat out any of the other QB's(which to my knowledge he has not done -but active and retired QB's have already stated this goes on all the time), he held his ground denying the obvious thinking it would probably blow over ..which was a mistake on his part. I don't know how it will end, but my guess is before all this is settled the Patriots will possibly have another title to brag about. Congratulations, you've all been suckered into what might be the greatest marketing strategy since "new" coke!

Check the script....

A lot of people are saying had Goodell not upheld the four game suspension, people would be calling for his job.

As if there was any proof of his guilt needed before. Athletes really don't need to be smart to be good do they? But then he did go to U of M so....

What about CryBrady's FB rant? I wonder if he received his wife's permission before he posted?

His arrogance is his problem. This whole thing would have gone away if he had just manned up and took responsibility. As we all can see, that isn't the Brady way!

Do you know anything about the author of this article? I didn't think so.....
This thread is so much fun!!!! Thank you for making it so. Sincerely.

And yes, I know that Shaughnessy has been a sports columnist for the Boston Globe for 30 or so years. I would read him frequently in the Globe during the 20 or so years I lived in Vermont and Massachusetts. I'm not up on his current reputation though, among delusional Pats fans.

I wouldn't call it a rant, but that's just me.

Clearly he's good at what he does. Wouldn't have been employed as long as he has if he wasn't. I'm not much of a fan of his, never really was. But that's the beauty of it all. If everyone had the same opinion and views as me, it would get pretty boring.

I am very disappointed by the NFL’s decision to uphold the 4 game suspension against me. I did nothing wrong, and no one in the Patriots organization did either.

Despite submitting to hours of testimony over the past 6 months, it is disappointing that the Commissioner upheld my suspension based upon a standard that it was “probable” that I was “generally aware” of misconduct. The fact is that neither I, nor any equipment person, did anything of which we have been accused. He... dismissed my hours of testimony and it is disappointing that he found it unreliable.

I also disagree with yesterdays narrative surrounding my cellphone. I replaced my broken Samsung phone with a new iPhone 6 AFTER my attorneys made it clear to the NFL that my actual phone device would not be subjected to investigation under ANY circumstances. As a member of a union, I was under no obligation to set a new precedent going forward, nor was I made aware at any time during Mr. Wells investigation, that failing to subject my cell phone to investigation would result in ANY discipline.

Most importantly, I have never written, texted, emailed to anybody at anytime, anything related to football air pressure before this issue was raised at the AFC Championship game in January. To suggest that I destroyed a phone to avoid giving the NFL information it requested is completely wrong.

To try and reconcile the record and fully cooperate with the investigation after I was disciplined in May, we turned over detailed pages of cell phone records and all of the emails that Mr. Wells requested. We even contacted the phone company to see if there was any possible way we could retrieve any/all of the actual text messages from my old phone. In short, we exhausted every possibility to give the NFL everything we could and offered to go thru the identity for every text and phone call during the relevant time. Regardless, the NFL knows that Mr. Wells already had ALL relevant communications with Patriots personnel that either Mr. Wells saw or that I was questioned about in my appeal hearing. There is no “smoking gun” and this controversy is manufactured to distract from the fact they have zero evidence of wrongdoing.

I authorized the NFLPA to make a settlement offer to the NFL so that we could avoid going to court and put this inconsequential issue behind us as we move forward into this season. The discipline was upheld without any counter offer. I respect the Commissioners authority, but he also has to respect the CBA and my rights as a private citizen. I will not allow my unfair discipline to become a precedent for other NFL players without a fight.

Lastly, I am overwhelmed and humbled by the support of family, friends and our fans who have supported me since the false accusations were made after the AFC Championship game. I look forward to the opportunity to resume playing with my teammates and winning more games for the New England Patriots.

Unbelievable, this guy is delusional! He should learn how to step and be a man and accept responsibility.
