spoodles

I really hated the Portuguese Seafood Stew...it was loaded with fennel (that licorice tasting stuff) and I hate that. It does not look like the stew is on the menu anymore...DH loved his steak.

The dips and the 4 cheese flatbread were very good appetizers.

The sangria is very good but the Mediterranian Sunrise drink is too sweet.

The chocolate apricot pistachio cake was very good.

It is also very loud in there. I am gald I tried it but will probably not go back.

I hope this helps! :)

ETA: DH's steak is not longer on the menu too...I guess I am out of the loop giving my reviews...we were there Dec 06 by the way...:)

we ate there one year, and really enjoyed it! there was a funny clown-type man who came to each table telling jokes and doing magic tricks! my daughters absolutely loved it!

We ate there in Feb 2007 and enjoyed it. Went back in April 2007 and crossed it off our list. The menu changed from our first visit this year to the next visit and no one liked the new offerings. However, we will watch for another menu change and will try it again if and when that happens.

brad and dips sounds yummy, I also like the "loud" type of atmosphere

Prepare to spend a minimum of 2 hours there for dinner.:sad2: Not very fun! Thought maybe it was just a one time deal, it is not! Also the menu continues to scale down. The next thing you know there will be like 2 salads 2 pastas and 2 desserts to choose from. The food is decent though and the boardwalk experience makes it somewhat worth it.

The new menu looks pretty good.

I threw in the loud part because I didn't know this when I went there...I don't mind loud either (If i yelled from here you would probably hear me I'm so loud!!! :rotfl: )...but DH and I were on a "date" so quieter would have been nicer. We did enjoy going to Jellyrolls after. :thumbsup2

I can tell you breakfast is gross. We were there at 7:45 am and we were the only people there. DH had the breakfast sampler plate thing with overcooked and way to salty bacon, overcooked brown scrambled eggs, rubbery sausage wheel and uncooked potatoes, the biscuit was a lardy, greasy hard rock.

I had the overcooked and rubbery sausage frittata with a very greasy croissant and uncooked potatoes.

The coffee and juice were good but the rest of it was just awful.

We went there last year for the first time and though it was just o.k. We did enjoy walking the boardwalk though. We would go back but not one of our top choices.

I love Spoodles! I love the breakfast - excellent French toast and the "Italian" breakfast is fabulous and unique. I have heard a couple complaints about breakfast, but those have been from the ones who got the all you can eat platter, so I might advise against that. I think it sits in buffet trays under warming lights and just gets brought out instead of being cooked to order like other entrees. We like breakfast because it is casual, relaxing and oddly, not that loud - it doesn't have the rushed feeling of tables being close together and people yelling or kids running around or an ultra formal atmosphere. It is a very homey place, which is something we love, esp. for breakfast!

For dinner, they have exquisite homemade sangria, lots of fabulous appetizers - my favorite is the garlic shrimp - I've tried to recreate it at home a few times - and the dips are excellent as well. The rigatoni with meat sauce is fabulous. My BF had the chicken and it was okay, but he ate half my rigatoni! We had the dessert sampler which was the BEST! If you go, definitely try it - there are 4 mini desserts and you get a taste of them all. We are going again in August and the menu is different. One addition is a garlic-lemon shrimp linguine. We are *hoping* that this shrimp tastes similar to the garlic shrimp appetizer which was so memorably awesome. We don't know for sure yet, though.
