Have you ever made a spontaneous trip? A 3 to 4 day weekend? Where did you travel? How far?

Life has been so hectic, I just want to pack up the family and go somewhere for a brief vacation. Disney for us is around 9 hours, not sure if it's doable in a 4 day weekend (though I tried to convince hubby we'd have two days of driving, two days at parks, not that bad! We're going on our larger vacation in December.)

Somehow whenever I try to plan a spontaneous short trip anywhere, it ends up being 5-8nts at Disney :lmao: I'll start by looking at 4 days at Myrtle Beach or Hilton Head (3-4 hour drives) and I end up adding it up and somehow it comes out that if we're gonna spend that much $, we might well just go to Disney (8-9hour drive):thumbsup2

9 hours from Disney, with 4 days? Definitely Do-able!

Back before we had kids, DH and I would have done it in a minute!
We live in CT, and were at a friends wedding in MD. We had been planning to stay in the DC area for a few days and do some siteseeing there. While we were sitting at the reception, DH says, "Hey I've got an idea, lets go to Disney tomorrow morning instead of DC." So we did. It was about 10-12 hours drive from where we were, we stayed for about 3 days and drove home straight thru.

Another thing we used to do about 5 or 6 times a year was drive to a Nascar race...often at the spur of the moment. Several times we drove CT to Charlotte NC on Friday monring, watched the races on Saturday and Sunday then drove straight ome Sunday night.

To me, anything up to 12 hours is fair game for a spur of the moment 3 or 4 day trip.

we did one to the beach for a weekend, but didn't tell DD. we just picked her and her cousin up from school, had all their stuff packed in the back of the truck..(neither one of them noticed the luggage or the cooler) they didn't question anything until we passed all the possible turns to the house. then they got excited!! the beach is about 3 hours from here for us so it is a perfect getaway weekend.

That sounds like a completely doable trip. My DH and I went to Gatlinburg for the day on Fri. It is about 4 to 4.5 hours each way.

Ohhhhhhhhhh I would be in trouble if it was only 9 hours away. I might be there every long weekend!!:rotfl2: We decided Wednesday night last week to drive to Post Falls, ID for the Easter weekend. It is about 9-10 hr drive. We live in central Alberta, Canada. We went to shop and just getaway. It was me, DH, DD 9 AND DS 7. It was great! 3 nights. If I were you I would gooooooooo for it!!!!!!!:rotfl:

I just needed to ask the OP if your DIS name is from a certain cartoon from many years ago? I used to love that show....my husband and I pulled it up on youtube for laughs!:rotfl2:

My bad...just saw your signature! Love these names anyway...wanted to name DS#1 Sebastian, but with a last name that begins with S, it was a tongue twister (DS is tongue-tied and this could have been very bad for him:scared1: )

Still say that was a great cartoon.:rotfl2:

Another Diser told me about the show. I need to look it up. I also found out that there is an indy rock band from Scotland named Belle and Sebastian. Go figure. When you think you have (somewhat) uncommon names! And I always get asked if my kids are named after Disney characters. No they are not. Though I don't mind people thinking so, except the non-Disney folks who just think we're weird! We simply loved the name Isabella (though she's always been Bella or Belle) and Sebastian comes from the patron saint of soldiers (and I grew up a military brat and brother is now in Iraq.) So anyway . . . Thanks for reminding me to look it up!!:) :)
