The Cast: Me (annual PH, disney freak, 29) and my friend Brandy (same age, never been to Disney)
Friday, February 28: I left work with time to spare and stopped by my house to get my bag and give Ellie, my St. Bernard, a kiss goodbye. I made it to the airport in plenty of time, got searched by TSA and thanked them and told the agent I appreciated what they were doing. The flight was uneventful, I enjoyed a nice glass of wine and landed early and Brandy was there to pick me up. We spent the rest of the evening catching up.
Saturday, March 1: We awoke later than anticipated and got started around 10am. Brandy had never been to DW EVER and had no idea what to expect with a commando like me. We started at AK and hit Festival of the Lion King first off. My mother feels this show is worth the price of admission, and I agree. Being a retired gymnast I feel right at home with the 'tumble monkeys' and know what it takes to make all that look so easy! I recognized a few CM's, like the Zebra (who is always great), but the main characters were new to me, but still excellent! After that we headed for the safari and got on with no wait. The animals were extremely active, and I saw a new baby hippo! The lions were up and about: the lionness got uproamed for us, and the Lionrolled and faced us in a cute cat-like manner and put his paw on his face.
After the safri, I subjected my friend to Its Tough to be a Bug, and gave her no clues other than "It's a great 3D type show". It was great, except the bugs under our rumps didn't leave the theater as usual... At this point, due to limited time, and growing crowds, we left and headed for the studios. I wanted to knock out the big 2 and show Brandy Disney at its best!! We stopped and ate at Catalina Eddie's; we each had a BBQ chicken pizza, which was only ok. It began to drizzle and we headed to Rockin Roller Coaster to check wait times. As we approached a nice British woman offered me 2 FP's for immediate use! I again had not told my friend anything about it, except my usual description of "Space Mountain on crack." Not that I have a personal knowledge of crack, but I think it fits. She loved it!! We headed to the Tower of Terror, and I was looking forward to the new drop sequence, but I must tell you, I was disappointed. I didn't notice anything really different except for louder music in the outside queue. We had an exceptionally obnoxious group of teens in our elevator who were having a screaming contest the whole time, but other than that it was great.
After our drop, it was headed towards late afternoon, and I wanted time to settle into Epcot, hit some rides, and find a good spot for the last parade. We got in the car and headed over.
