I was checking on my waitlist..( yes checking, I am one of those who belive the calls help, lol) and I am currently waiting for a GV at OKW. He did tell me that he could open me up to be on the waitlist for all GV at OKW. Hummm, considering I thought I already was......I said please do, Does any one know what the differences are and do they normally only wait list you for part of the GV. I am sooooo confused any help will be so very appreciated.

Starting earlier this year OKW has two booking categories. Near Hospitality House (bldgs 11 to 14 and 23 to 26) are now a separate guaranteed booking category. The rest of the resort is the standard booking category. No difference in points. That is probably what he meant. The problem with this for a waitlist is if you already have part of your reservation confirmed in one category, and your request is filled in another section of the resort, you'll have to move. Much like the preferred vs standard rooms at other resorts.

That is doubtful as there are only 2 or 3 fully HA GVs at OKW. One is a ground floor unit somewhere in the 40s buildings, and the other 1 or 2 are in the "new" 60s bldgs with elevators. Those HA GVs are normally reserved through special needs for those that must have that type of accommodation.

Thanks so very much for the speedy responce....Chuck I only wish I had a fourth of your Disney knowledge. Is a HA GV a bad thing or a good hing or a normal thing.....I suppose I have stayed at OKW a dozen times or so (never in a GV) and the only time I have ever had a "bad" room IMO was when I sat on the balcony and I could watch cars go up and down the oad outside the rresort...kind of mad me not feel as much at home as other times.

An HA GV will likely have limited cabinet space in the kitchen area and first floor bathroom, to allow for the turning radius of a wheelechair, and allow someone in a chair to comfortably use the counters, sinks and stove. The king master bed will be lower to the ground to allow someone to transfer in and out of the chair to the bed. The dedicated shower in the master bath is replaced with a roll in shower for wheelchair users (you still have the whirlpool tub). Only the first floor of the units are modified, there are still stairs up to the second floor of the GV.

As I said, the CM was likely referring to the near HospitalityHouse booking area for those buildings, and not an HA unit. Though it is possible that is there is an HA unit not needed for a special needs guest, you could be assigned to one.
