They said the service was the absolute WORST (in every way... all the way around!) I cruised this past winter and had absolutely unbelievably fantastic service! What do you say to someone who had such a horrendous time? And what are the odds that they would get such bad service at EVERY turn? I was inclined to think this might be a person who enjoys being unhappy... I didnt' know what to say though other than, "oh that's too bad."

some folks are just never satisfied...Maybe these folks fall into that category.

all of our experiences on the 5/25 Western were superior--we did not want to get off. I would imagine the people you spoke to would complain about anything! How sad!

Were they on the 3, 4 or 7 day cruise (East or West). Do you know the dates they travelled? I have not heard of any negative posts recently other than maybe rough seas.

I wonder when they sailed so we can compare to DIS'ers review of the same cruise.

Sure they weren't talking about THE BIG RED BOAT of long ago! LOL!

It's more than likely a case of "can't make them happy no matter what you do!" We have one of those in our family....he's always right and needs to be or else WATCH OUT! He can never be rational and calm with anyone providing service. It always escalates to him yelling at someone.
They want to go to Disney with us sometime, since we know the ropes and can show them around. It's NOT going to happen. Ever. Period!
What a miserable life to live.

Hey now, I went on the Big Red Boat and it was great! Of course the new ships are no comparison but the Big Red Boat was a blast!!

It is amazing how many people still think the Big Red Boat is DCL. When we told my MIL about our upcoming cruise, her first comment was "Oh, the Big Red Boat." Disney must have done a good job promoting the BRB since so many people still think the BRB is DCL years after Disney started its own line.

Some people just love to be unhappy!

I have a relative like that - it's so pathetic, it's almost funny!
The man hasn't had a decent meal in 20 years. Hates every restaurant he's ever been to I think. He's moved 5 times in six years because he hates his house...

These poor souls spend their lives looking for something to complain about. I on the other hand intend to have even more fun on my Disney cruise this year than I did last year!

Life is short - have fun!!!!

We went on the Big Red Boat too and had a great time!!!!!!! Of course, like said before, it doesn't compare to Disney but it was fun.

I would respond with a "well then you must have filled out your Guest Comment card and let DCL know, right?"

I'm curious to know which cruise too. I was on the Magic 5/18 and I was amazed at some of the improvements, esp in the Guest Services area. We had a horrible server on our 4-night Wonder cruise 12/01 last year but spoke to the head server and made comments on the card too. I think bad service is not that common and sometimes if you are ticked off at one thing, it sets the tone for the rest of your cruise.

He said he did in fact complain and was given no satisfaction. The cruise was within the last 5 months..... on the Wonder.

To all past Big Red Boat guests......sorry if I offended!!!!! I shouldn't have used that example!!!! I have never personally sailed on BRB, and I was commenting on what I have heard from others. Again, I apologize!

No apology necessary!!! (but thanks anyway!)

I must agree with the above posters! The odds of having ALL Service on the entire ship horrible is just not possible. I have learned that cruising is NOT for everyone. I also think that some people just HATE to travel. My dad who was the sweetest man in the world, was a terrible traveler. He did not complain or fuss but he simply prefered to be in his own home. Vacations can be very stressful, and sometimes bring out the worst in people.
It would be interesting to know if this man had cruised before, and if so, what his opinion of "other" cruiselines was.

Some people are just happy being miserable!!
Personally, in 22 Disney cruises we have always had a blast, and the service is almost always perfect. There are glitches every now and then, but they certainly do not ruin our trip. For example, on one of our trips (and at Palo yet!!), the server spilled hubby's glass of wine on the table, and a little of it splashed on his pants too. Fortunately, he was wearing black and it wasn't all that much. The poor server seemed so embarrassed...he probably thought we were going to yell at him or something. But heck, accidents happen. That was a very small thing compared to our delicious meal and an overall wonderful trip. But I'm sure there are those who would make a big stink and let it ruin the whole experience.
How can you not have fun on vacation on such a spectacular cruise ship?! Legitimate negative feedback is helpful because it helps companies improve, but some people complain about EVERYTHING.

I agree that there are some people you just cannot please. We were on the 7 day Eastern Cruise last September and met another family (DH, DW, and 2 DS's). The DW complained about everything! They even complained at the guest services desk, and I'm not sure what kind of satisfaaction they got from that. We thought the cruise was great and had the time of our life, and booked another cruise for 11/9/02. After we were home a few weeks, my DH spoke to her DH and found out they booked another cruise with DCL too! Go figure!

bjspalding:p :)

not to be in the minority, but maybe they did get unlucky and actually did get bad service. Since we don't really know these people, its a little harsh to assume that they are miserable people who can never be happy. Perhaps they hit bad weather (which no-one can control) and indifferent server (which I know has happened to others), maybe a bad steward (some give more attention than others) which all added up to a bad experience for which they paid a lot of money. Then again, maybe they are just grinches.

I also have to go to their defense. We just cruised, and you all must have read about the problem we had with our room. We had a real problem with their customer service, and if you read my report you would know I was patient 3 days to fix the problem as I didn't want to change rooms. Going to another room to shower was no fun. But when my kids were gagging as we left the room for formal night is when we said enough is enough.
As far as the service, our server was excellent. But when I read that some of you get your drinks when you sit down because they know what you drink baffles me. I had to ask our asst. server for a diet coke every night and when our wine glass was empty we had to look for her for a refill. But we weren't her only table and in a regular restaurant you have to ask, so it really wasn't a big deal. She was awesome with the kids. You can't have everything and I don't expect it.
As far as the wine spilling, I agree, eveyone has accidents. How many times do we all make mistakes. They are only human like the rest of us.

We were less than satifised with our server - it was his last cruise and he made it QUITE obvious that he had had enough. Not much fun to be the receiver of that type of service, but we still had a MAGICAL time and can't wait for the chance to return.

Hey, DCL, if you're listening - we'd even cruise again SOONER if you would add a NY to Bermuda cruise!! :D (I'm keeping my fingers crossed and "...Wishing Upon a Star"!!)

We are all going to judge things in a different way...what I find fun might not appeal to someone else. I would answer "I'm sorry you didn't enjoy the trip. Guess this is just not your "cup of tea". I am not worried about a few bad reviews...the majority of people love the cruises!
