SPOILER!!!! Ice dancing results....

I understand people being upset at it being "ruined" for them, but imo some of the replies here were pretty harsh, uncalled for, and really almost childish - temper-tantrumlike fits. I think the letdown, upsetness, whatever could have been relayed without outright meanness towards the OP. jmho

I agree. Do some of you need a nap?

Yes, please edit the title of your thread! I personally don't care, but many people don't want to know who won until they watch it.

Being a young skater yourself, goofysk8, I bet you were really elated and excited about the medal last night. It sure was a good performance, wasn't it!!?? I see you are a student, grade school, high school? You have ambitions for competition yourself?

PS: Guess you made a boo-boo last night in the title, maybe use that 'spoiler' term in the future.

Enjoy the rest of the Olympics, goofysk8. :thumbsup2

Another PS: I like your DIS name, very neat. :woohoo:

I wasn't on the DIS last night - but I get really tired of people being inconsiderate of West Coasters (& those who TiVo). This was a problem with the last few Olympics. I started a thread before these Olympics started, asking people to not put results in the thread title. Is that too much to ask? really?

I know it's after the fact now, but the OP still hasn't gone back to change it. What if someone worked last night, is sleeping now and will jump onto the computer before watching the TiVo'd Olympics? It's all about being considerate.

Great reply Dan. pixiedust:

goofysk8 - we all make mistakes, don't worry about it. :) And many more after you will make the same mistake whether it's the Olympics or the World Series, or some great Disney attraction etc. and get chewed out just the same way. :hyper: It's the way of the DIS. :teeth: 'Cept next time you'll know how it feels so you probably won't YELL at people the way they have at you! :lmao:

I posted this on another thread, but just have to ask:
So, if you were listening to the radio on the home from work and they mentioned who won would you call them and throw a fit? Or if you 'accidentally' saw it in the paper first or you didn't get the channel switched before the news announced it would you be complaining "How dare you" to them? I cannot believe that everyone who hasn't watched it yet is walking around with earplugs in and blinders on so they don't accidentally hear/see it somewhere else?

At what point is it 'safe' to have something 'revealing' in a thread title?

The thread title has been changed now, but does it really matter?? I highly doubt the OP was trying to be inconsiderate to others. Seems like an honest mistake to me and one that could have been addressed in one post by one person  rather than being beaten to death and rudely at that.

Awww, no problem. I know what it's like to make a mistake. I'm human too.

ETA: I am sorry I gave the results out without putting spoiler in the title. Thank you for bringing this to my attention but I am disappointed in those who were so vicious about this. It was a blunder on my part but I don't think I needed to be attacked by this. Yes, I do skate and I was so excited for B/A. I will be sure NOT to post anything about the ladies short OR long programs for fear that I will get attacked again. :(

Thanks, Dan and Adam. I knew you would understand my excitement.
Awwww, I'm sorry that people were so harsh. We've all been yelled at one time or another on the DIS and just look at it as your turn. I know that you won't make this mistake again.

 I am so sorry that you have been attacked like you have. I hope you don't let it get to you.

I'm sorry that you got attacked. I most certainly was not one of the attackers, but just pointed out that you needed to edit your title. It's not something that some people think about, but now you know. You didn't mean any harm, afterall! :sunny:

It is safe when it's stopped airing on national television. This thread was posted while the olympics were still being aired. After it's been aired, it's up to the people tivo-ing it to watch where they read, but before then, I consider it a very very inconsiderate thing to do. How would you like it if, during the day, before your favorite show's season finale airs where you live, I posted a big old spoiler of the ending with no warning - here on the disboards. I suspect you'd be angry too. Why? Because it hasn't aired where you live yet!

All I'm saying is wait till the olympic coverage is over in the different time zones before you (general) start posting spoiler threads with no warning.

Not trying to be ugly. I'm sure the OP has learned her lesson :)

I understand being bummed or disappointed - I'll give you that, but angry and rude, especially over an innocent mistake? nope! I just think some people over-reacted and there has been so much focus on the OP needing to apologize when there are plenty of others who were far worse in their replies and are the ones who should apologize. Again, just my opinion, and not trying to come off as rude or wanting to drag this out. :) Just couldn't believe some of the horrid reactons. :worried:

Goofysk8-

I posted pretty early in this thread and just wanted to apologize if I was rude to you. Yeah, I wasn't really harsh, but all the same. I'm very sorry that you were attacked by others here. :crazy2:

Apology accepted.

And let me apologize for the horrible way some other people responded to you. I am sure you didn't sit down and make up some evil plot to ruin someone else's day by giving too much info.
I honestly wondered if I was dealing with my kids on a bad day when they haven't had a full night's sleep by some of the responses.

Keep on posting. I know you have learned your lesson which is probably more than can be said for some others here.
Chin up! :thumbsup2

PD32, Good grief! I can't believe the first grade temper tantrum! So, your being "surprised with the ending" is more important than being considerate of someone who screwed up? You may always make the "best" choice, but most of us make mistakes on occasion.

OK! Sorry for asking. :coffee:
