Spoiled at the Contemporary!

Had a Blast! Loved the hotel and the convenience of being able to walk from the MK to our hotel! Wonderful restaurants! POOPOO to all who say this is not the place to stay! We will go back!
Room was huge - ended up getting tower room with Mk view on the 7th floor! Mousekeeping was excellent and got a towel critter on our last day! DD loved the fact the the 'train' came through the hotel!

I am a fan of the CR myself. I think you can't beat the convenience and the nice restaurant choices right there and available on the monorail. Have not been able to stay there on our last few trips, but I am working on it for our next one. Glad to hear you had a nice time.

I excited about staying there for our March trip. I've stayed in the Epcot area before and love being able to walk to a park.

We stayed for a week last May. How lucky is that? We got a room with a view of the bay. I will never forget that vacation. We bought a Disney timeshare, and our first trip is this Thursday. But we will definitely stay at the Contemporary again. We loved everything about it.

I'm SO glad to hear it! I've worried because of all the negative comments I've read recently. Since the reason we've chosen the CR this trip is for it's proximity to MK... I think we'll be happy.

We Love the CR!!
Some people say it has no Magic. But the CR has been very magical for us. We have been there a few times and will go back. Having a lake behind you, the MK in front of you and the Monorail as your taxi can't be beat!

The Contemproary Tower would always be my first choice at Disney. Probably because i stayed there when there were only what, 3 resorts in the entire World? (when it actually was contemporary!) So it has always been a magical place for me. I guess the people who don't like it are all into the 'theming' of the other resorts. And you can't argue with that if thats what you like. But if money were no object, I wouldn't stay anywhere else.

PS - I suppose if I was younger and childless, I might prefer one of the Boardwalk resorts, cause that place is hopping.

So glad to hear it! DH is insisting that we stay there because that's where he always stayed as a kid. Then I was reading a "worst resort" thread and was shocked at how many people put that one as the worst. I think it looks really cool and the convenience is such a plus.

We are with 'ya! We decided to plan a surprise trip for this April and were thinking of trying to save some $$ and book at the WL. Well, when it came time to make the reservations we decided we would miss the Tower too much. The cost is going to be about $100 more per night, but we think it is worth it!

I really like the Contemporary, I just wish they would redo the rooms and add some color to the outside of the building. They should remodel the rooms with a more updated style and put more of a Disney theme to it. When I stayed there I was wishing that Disney would put me in charge of redoing the resort because I've got a ton of ideas.

1. When redoing the rooms keep the Contemporary theme but add Disney art work on the walls, maybe a Tinkerbell border that glows in the night for a while just like the DLH in Anaheim. It would also be cool to have the Mickey hands that hold the towels and soap in the bathrooms. I bought them for my Disney themed bathroom and people just love the look of it. Get LCD or Plasma tv's for the room like they have in the new age hotels in Vegas. I'ts a cool look to have one hanging on the wall and looks like it would fit in the Contemporay theme. Maybe do a cool internet service hook up in the room with a flat pannel display. The net is how a lot of people get their news nowdays and you could email fellow DIS'ers with a updated trip report on how things are going! LOL! I have seen them in other hotels and it can be done.

2. Add some color to the outside of the building. The Best Western in DTD was recently painted a very pretty warm looking light yellow color and I always thought that would make the CR stand out. Pick any warm tropical color and do some testing to see what people like. In the north garden area in back they should add another swiming pool and theme it to the hilt. They have the room and the other deluxe resorts have two pools why can't the CR? That way the guests don't have to walk very far to get to a pool and they can put a zero depth pool that has a cool slide like the GF and the Poly!

3. I love to come up with ideas like these and my mind is always working overtime with stuff like this. I guess that's why I admire Walt Disney so much, he was always comming up with great ideas and kept things looking good for the familes that would visit. I look forward to your replies , just be nice! LOL!

There are a couple of rumors floating around about a CR rehab. One is that they will add a DVC there, which is highly speculative. The other was reported in the DIS January newsletter. It said that the decor would be changed to blond wood and light colors, I believe. There is also a plan for the food court and Concourse Steak House to switch places. There is no timeline for the plan, and people who have talked to CMs say that they don't have a date set for rehab, which means it's probably a year away. It must be very difficult to keep the Contemporary decor contemporary. By the time you come up a new design and implement it, a few years have gone by and it's not so contemporary anymore.
