Splitting up room charges at check-in...

:) My Dad and Mom are joining us this year on our trip. We'll all be at POR and both rooms were reserved under my AP. By talking with CRO and Riverside directly, we are under the impression that at check-in, we can have the room charges themselves divided between our credit card and my Dad's card, since they charge all 8 nights on the first day. We were also told that our room can have our charging privileges and My Dad's room can be split off so that he can charge his items back to his room too, attached to his credit card.

Has anyone had any experience with this? I think it will all work out ok, but my husband worries that my Dad's room charges will somehow end up on our room and it will be a major mess. I don't know why my Dad won't just charge items with his credit card and forget the room key charging thing altogether, but I don't dare argue with him about it since they wanted to come along to help with our 18 month old-a major blessing!!

Single digit dance coming tomorrow!!

You will each get a room card at checkin, and you can have the front desk set up charges for each

Yes, it is easily done.

I arranged the trip for my whole family. 9 rooms in my name (for disount purposes). Paid everything ahead using 5 different credit cards (parents, siblings, grandparents, etc paying for their own). At check-in made sure all rooms were appropriately paid in full (zero balances), then put each room in the name of whoever was staying in it, removing my name. Told the desk agent that each would check in and leave their own credit card for charging priviliges if they wanted charge keys.

Only problem I had was that a valet fee was put on my room that wasn't mine. Think someone gave them the wrong number since we were all staying side-by-side all our numbers were really close. When I questioned it and told the clerk I'd have to find out which cousin tagged me with their charges, she backed it off. Told her no, don't do that, I'm sure one of us used it, and since we're all family, will find whoever it was, but she said she was happy to remove it for us :)

Don't worry....they do it all the time.
