I was reading another thread where someone asked about splitting a TS meal - the OP was not on the dining plan.

But a few of the other posters said they have split TS meals even though they WERE on the dining plan.

I've never tried this and frankly, I'm too scared to even ask a server.

But it made me think, what are your thoughts/experiences with splitting a TS meal while on the dining plan.

According to most reports you can split a meal on the dining plan anywhere but: buffets, all you can eat family style restaurants, fixed price restaurants like CRT and Akershus, dinner shows, and possibly Beaches & Cream and Via Napoli. By reports, no other DDP restaurants have any prohibition against splitting entrees.

Wow. That just boosted my convidence to ask. Like the posters in the other thread, I like to snack (especially at Epcot during F&W) but I don't snack as much as I want because I feel like I would be wasting so much food on my Dining Plan. It's probably too late for this trip, but in the future, I may book one or even 2 more TS meals, where hubby and I split an entree and order appetizers/drinks, etc.

we split meals everywhere (with the noted exceptions above) and have never had an issue. I simply cannot eat a meal by myself...most servers are extremely courteous and accomodating. Don't be afraid to ask.

We've frequently shared so that we can save a credit for a signature dinner or show and never had a problem. Sometimes we'll order an appetizer to supplement.

It's never too late to make more reservations. You can check online as often as you want. According to your ticker you'll be going in 7 weeks. Now could be the perfect time because people who decide not to go have to cancel their packages at the 45 day mark and hopefully they'll cancel any ADRs they have. :)

DH and I have done this many times w/o a problem. We have even had the server bring us out the meal already split on 2 plates. I like to do this where you order off the menu so I can order an appetizer.

In life outside of Disney, we always share an entree and an appetizer - so good to know it can be done!

I just might do it. I've already planned and planned and planned for this trip. Not certain if I have it in me to juggle now. But I'm VERY TEMPTED.

Thanks everyone for letting me know that what I had assumed was taboo is actually OK!!!

There are 3 of us in our party - me, DH, DD (8).

Can DD & I share an adult meal? & charged only 2 TS credits?

Thanks.

we are doing ALL character meals for our 1 sit down meal per day (my choice lol) ..BUT for the quick service, i am STILL not a HUge eater so maybe i can share with hubby and just get a snack...Thanks for the idea of splitting... dont know why i didnt think we could either...

Does anyone know how the dining plan credits work??/ keep track of them? :confused3

Another option though would be to upgrade DD to an adult on the package for dining, right? Then our sharing an entree would be no issue I'm thinking.........

You should not have any problem sharing your DD. I did that many times with DS last year. This year we actually had his plan upgraded to adult (10). DS is 8 but he really prefers adult food and no desire to eat kids meal both CS/TS. We still plan on sharing some meals b/c we know some portions are really big. We might even order an appetizer OOP and use one 1TS credit for entree and dessert and share 3 course meal. That way, we could stretch some TS credits.

We split ITRW and at DW all the time. We are small eaters but like to have a variety of dining experiences. We never had any problems. Several have posted that Beaches and Cream does not allow this. Via Napoli does not either from some reports. No where that we have asked cared.

We have split meals on the DDP-they often even split the meal for you and present it in two separate plates.

When we do this though, we still tip based on two meals, not one because the server did still serve both of us.

At home DH and I either split an appetizer and meal or I take half the meal home in a box. I never thought about splitting a meal at WDW. This would be great! I'd been thinking about only doing the QS dining in the future, because I felt like the table service meals were really too large, and it's pointless to take half a meal back to the resort. This would be worth asking if we get the regular dining plan again. I like the point about doubling the tip, since the server is doing the same amount of work.
