Splitting Stay?

We (DH, DD5, DS3 and myself) have decided to split our stay when we take our trip this December. Our first 4 days will be at the WL and the final 5 days will be at the YC. I have always been nervous about splitting, so we have stuck to one resort. With the Christmas decorations up, it was too hard for us to resist a stay at WL and we love the Epcot resort area, so we are trying it for the first time. I figure that "moving day" might be a little hectic. Can anyone help me with tips as to how to make the move go smooth? Thanks!

Will you have a car?

We did this last year b/w the BC and POR. It was very easy. My husband got up in the morning and went over with the car to POR and checked us in. The kids slept and I got us all packed up. He came back, we had breakfast, loaded up the car and headed to POR.

Even if you don't have a car, you can do something similar using Disney transportation and the resort will move your luggage for you.

We are doing it again next year between CR and Poly.

Hi Ncombs!

Thanks for the quick reply! We will rent a car, as we are sold on the convenience from our previous trips. Sounds like it was a pretty painless process! Thanks again! :goodvibes

I you don't have a car, just take the taxi. This is so much convinient rather than Disney take care of your luggages. When you check in at your second resort and if the room is ready, then you have to wait for Disney to deliver your bags, you're at their mercy. And if you need something from the bag, you can't get to it.

If you take the tax, the bags will be with you. If your room is not ready, they can store them for you, and if you forgot something in the bag, you can easily retrieve it at the luggage hold.

It only cost about $20. That's nothing.

all we did was check out of our first resort. they kept our luggage. then we went to the park. late that afternoon we left the park and took disney transportation to the new resort. DH checked us in while me and 3 DD's explored. luggage was there when we got there. it was no hassle at all.

have fun!!

We change resorts atleast once pretty much every trip. Its really easy. We just drop off our luggage at bell services that morning on our way out and then you can either head over to the other resort to check in early or go to a park and head to the new resort later.

I am so glad you asked. We are in a similiar situation.
Now my question to anyone who might be listening, ;) If the ressies are under my name, can DH go over without me & check in to the 2nd resort? (while I pack, as was suggested earlier).

We went from POFQ to WL -
only prob was that chck out is at 11 and check in isn't til 3
all they could recommend at POFQ is that I try to check in early at the WL
Instead we packed up the car after breakfast and hit the pool, dried off took the boat to DTD for lunch and shopping, then went back and got our car drove to WL and checked in to a room that was ready right away!

If he is listed on the room, he should be able to. The reservation was in my name and my husband checked in for us. This was not an AP discount room. You might have to be the one checking in for that one.
