We're going in December and my sons want to go back to the Contemporary, but I want to stay at the Grand Floridian. When you change hotels mid-trip, is it a hassle? How does that work?

Thanks,::MickeyMo

There is little or no trouble. Bell services will move your luggage for you. You only have to pack and unpack

We're trying a split stay for the first time this trip!! I can't believe I talked my DH in trying that!! But everybody says its easy - so I'll report when I get back!

Enjoy!

I did it last May and found it pretty painless. We called the night before to let them know we were switching resorts. In the morning, they came, picked up our bags and gave us a claim tag. You just have to remember to keep any items you think you might need during the day with you (ie. medication, sun screen, swimsuits) because your luggage may not arrive until after 3 PM.

Just thinking about having to unpack at 1st resort, pack up again, and unpack again at 2nd resort seems to be a pain to me. I have never wanted to stay at more than one place. I like getting there, unpacking, and not having to drive again until we leave.

We did a split stay our last trip. I followed someone else's advice on these boards and packed one suitcase for the first part of the trip and one suitcase for the last part and one suitcase of all essentials. This way we only unpacked one suitcase for each part of the trip.

I really like that idea - think I'll use it for our upcoming trip August/September. We are splitting the stay between CSR and CR.

We split our stay and it was very easy. I didn't find it a bother at all to pack things up for the change, it might have taken 15 minutes... Do call at least the day before to arrange for your luggage transfer. Call in the morning the day before, don't leave it for later... you might forget... I did. Good thing it was not too busy that day.

I think we'll give this a shot. Now, I hope I can get good rates with either AP or Florida Resident! Ya know, we never really unpack other than hanging our stuff in the closet. I have this "thing" about putting my clothes in the drawers at the hotels...I know, stupid, but that's me:rolleyes:

Anyway, it shouldn't be that bad. Thanks for all your comments. Now, if you were doing these two resorts...which one would you do first?

Hi Tink561,

We are splitting our stay this time. It's a first for us, so we are hoping that it is not too much of a hassle. Seemed kind of exciting to try going to two resorts!

We chose to try the new resort first, and save the BWI for the second part of the trip. That way if we don't like the WL for whatever reason, we have our favorite to look foward to. (of course we are fully expecting to love the WL after spending many days here reading all about it and how beloved it is to many!)

I say go to the GF first, then on to the Contemp. if that is your favorite.

Happy planning!

We split our stat last trip, but made a big mistake - we went form 4 nights at AKL to 4 nights at POR. Now, POR isn't bad, but after AKL it seemed like a letdown to us.

This trip, we're doing it the right way - Pop Century for 5 nights, then AKL for 6!

I'm packing enough clothing for 6 days - our first day at AKL is a 'resort' day for us - we'll hang out by the pool, do some laundry, wait for the inlaws to arrive, and have our 15th anniversay dinner at Boma.

I'm curious to know if you bother to buy the mugs at either resort? The thought is very tempting to me, but my kids just loved getting those darn mugs refilled!!
