I know I've seen this addressed someplace, but for the life of me, I can't find it now. So....I am staying at BWV in Oct with another mom and her dd....mother/daughter trip for us. We'll be in a 2 bdrm unit. Someplace, I read that someone had been able to go down to the desk the night before they were to leave, and had the charges split out by card number, enabling each party to pay their own share. Have any of you done this? The other mom would feel so much better about doing it this way...she hates the idea of everything going on my cc and then having to write me a check to cover her charges. Told her I would check here to see if anyone had had any success doing this.
We'll most likely be doing the dining plan also....so wonder how they'll charge us for that..all together or split in half. Oh, the things I can come up with to worry about!! :teeth:
Thanks for any thoughts.

Not sure about the room charges but the DDP is paid for at check-in. I can't imagine why they wouldn't split the charges for that. She could also use her own credit card while you're there as opposed to charging everything to the room. We generally don't charge to the room ourselves finding that the expenses can get carried away and we are usually traveling with my parents. That way whoever is picking up the tab that night simply puts it on their own credit card or pays cash.

Duh!! Thanks, why didn't I think of her just using her cc!! My head must really be fuddled today. Most excellent idea!!!

I think you can split charges like that - but when the room charges get to a certain dollar value, they automatically submit to the credit card company on file for the room.

so if you charge more than that dollar, it will get billed.

Thanks. I'll ask at the desk when we check-in and see what they say. Since we're going to be doing the DDP I can't imagine the room charges will be all that much, but you can never tell.

Yeah I agree , if your gonna break out the plastic why not the CC instead of the key.

Having her use her credit card is the easiest way to do it. Also if there was a problem with her credit card you would be responsible for all the charges. We have done it the other way on numerous occasions even before they issued cards with each individual name on them. My daughter would go to the desk on the evening before check out and tell them which cards to separate out and then they charged that amount to her credit card. Usually took about 5-10 minutes. That way we left all "extra" credit cards in the room safe during the trip and only had the room keys to keep track of. This was after DH accidently threw a CC away when he left it on a tray from a CS restaurant. It is much easier to replace the room key and stop the charging on it than to try to contact the CC company from EPCOT (before cell phones) when you didn't bring those customer service numbers with you. We are going with a group in September that will vary in size and relationships (family and friends) during the week. This time I think only DH and I will have charging on our card as DD and SIL prefer to pay cash and don't want to be able to charge unless they use their own CCs and I would prefer the rest use their own cards. You should be okay whatever way you decide to do it. Have a great trip.

The way I handled it with my brother is that we checked the front desk about 2/3 of the way through our trip, and it worked out to just about how much of the expenses would be his, so we charged the balance to his credit card and changed the credit card on the account to mine, for the rest of the expenses.

I know this is an old thread, but the reason you breakout the key instead of the CC is because you are pulling out that card many more times during your vacation than you normally would at home. That opens up your card to multiple more chances of fraud, loss, or theft. You can cancel your credit card if lost or stolen, but it take a minimum of a week to get a new one. Your room key can be cancelled and replaced IMMEDIATELY if lost or stolen. Keep your CC put up and use that room key!!

I call AMEX, I have a new card in my hand no matter where I am in the world within 24 hours.

That said, I have I prefer to just use the KTTW card during my stays at Disney.

Wow, AMEX gives you a new car???? I'm doing business with the wrong company!:lmao: Sorry, couldn't resist.

For current readers, each KTTW card will be listed as a separate item on the folio (room bill). The front desk will let you pay for the charges separately and your account will show the separate payments.

Currently the DDP is paid for at check in. In the future the DDP will have to be paid for when added to the reservation and it's unknown if it can be paid separately by each party.

The charge limit at DVC resorts is $1500 before the charge is applied to your CC on file.
