Splitting resorts?

Question: I am assuming you must have two (or more) different reservations and you have to check out from each one before moving on. So, for those of you that split your stays between resorts:

1. How do you get your lugguge, etc., to the next resort if you don't have a car? Will Disney do it for you or are you on your own?

2. How does resort splitting affect your Key to the World if passes, etc., are already on there from the initial resort?

1. Disney will transport your luggage for you. But realize that there may be a short gap as to when you can check-in and when your luggage arrives. If you plan accordingly, and at least carry a few things with you (bathing suits, etc) then you should be fine. You could pack up a small bag (carry-on, etc.) and put it in a locker at one of the parks. (Plus you will be unable to access your luggage from check out time 'til you check in and get your next room)

2. Your tickets will be on your first room's KTTW card. I don't know if they can also put them on your new cards. Make sure you write down the numbers on the backs of your cards, or even better, run a copy of the backs-in case they get lost.

You do end up with two different reservations, and you do check out from the first hotel before moving to the second.

You can move your own bags, or bell services will move them for you. Call the desk at the first hotel when the bags are ready (or sooner to set a time) and they'll pick them up and move them to the next resort. They don't always get there right away, so remember to keep anything essential with you. If you plan to check in to the second hotel and head to the pool, for example, you'd need to keep a bag with bathing suits.

The tickets are a bit trickier. To the best of my understanding ... if you buy a package that includes tickets as a part of your first resort reservation, you can add extra days to cover your time at the second resort at a Guest Relations window. (Possibly the hotel concierge, too ... but I can't recall.) Basically, you're just upgrading the pass. When you leave the first hotel, you can have the remaining days transferred to other ticket media. The complication is that if you wish to book a package at the second hotel, for example to include the dining plan for your remaining days, you also have to buy a new one-day base ticket for everyone on the reservation. In this regard, you lose some of the savings benefits associated with a package because the first day of a ticket costs much more than, say, adding a 4th or 5th day to an existing pass. Perhaps someone else can explain this more eloquently ...

I loved my first split stay last fall, but it is a bit of a bummer not to be able to do the dining package for the second leg of the trip without buying the extra one-day passes at the second resort.
