Happy Day!

My brother- and sister-in-law just bought at BCV!!! Wooo Hooooo!! We're already starting to talk of future trips together.

Here's the scenario. They have a toddler and would very much like to use a 1BR. We're just 2 of us and the Studio suits us just fine most of the time. If we wanted to get a 2BR, could they use their points for the 1BR part and we use our points for the Studio part?? Or should we just book separately and request that our rooms be close together?

Thanks for any advice!

2BR is fewer points than separate 1BR and studio; thus if you go together better to get 2 BR. But you cannot just use their points for 1 BR and yours for studio side. Best way to do it is for your brother to reserve some of the nights with his points and you reserve the rest with yours (just agree to fair split based on the fact you will have smaller room) --for the odd night for which you might need both members' points, one can transfer points to the other to make the ressie. Whoever reserves any nights should put both names on the ressie and then you can link all the reservations to assure no moving during the trip.

I agree, there are many ways to do this but the principals have been laid out for you. I would think that you with the studio would pay the full points and any benefit of reduced points would go to Brother since you'd be getting a benefit (kitchen, etc) at the same points costs you would be looking at otherwise. You simply need to work our what all of you are truly comfortable with.

Or, couldn't one person just make the ressie and the other transfer their share of points to the ressie holders DVC acct?

You can do it via transfer of all points needed to one account--issue there though is possibility of cancellation; points once transfered stay transfered and thus no way to undo transaction if cancellation; thus recommend using method that has transfer of least amount of points, like using a transfer only if needed for that odd night out for which both players points are needed.

drusba are you saying members can link their ressies with another members? Oh wait.... sure they can... that is what we did for Steph and family (4 members linked for one ressie and that ressie was for a nonmember)......... silly me, I should always think before posting!
