Splitting platinum cruisers into different rooms

DH and I are platinum cruisers. We are traveling with another couple who will be first time cruisers. We haven't booked yet. We thought of splitting us into two staterooms so that both staterooms could book excursions and Palo early. If we do that, can we switch before we cruise so each couple is listed on the stateroom where they will sleep?

We would have a platinum cruiser be the primary name on one stateroom and one of he new cruiser names on the second stateroom, so we wouldn't be changing the primary name.

Have others done this? Any comments on pros and cons? TIA?
You can definitely do this. The couples can switch back at port checkin - not sooner. We just did this so that our party if 10 in 4 separate cabins could book excursions at the same time. My parents happen to be playinum but my in laws are first time cruisers. My TA put both grandmas in 1 cabin and both granddads in one.
Whats funny is my parents are all lets not switch back so we can treat them to a Palo dinner ;) I dont think its worth the hassle!! The door only cards stop working continuously and no one knows what name to call you. We will be switching them back at Port. My mom and I can just bring them our extra lanyards and a bag ;)
