Splitting meals?

Do any of the table service restaurants charge you to share/split meals? Obviously the ones that are dinner packages (i.e. WoC, F!) or the character meals, buffets, etc. you are paying per person. But otherwise, can two adults split an entree at a table service restaurant without being charged any sort of "split meal" fee? What about two kids sharing an entree? I'm assuming kids aren't forced to order from the kids menu if you're paying out of pocket, not on a dining plan.

The two that I know do charge are Cafe Orleans, which has a split charge printed on the bottom of their menu. But people have reported getting around it by ordering 2 items, like a sandwich and pomme frites to share. Blue Bayou charges a split fee, but they provide a second starter soup/salad and sides for the fee, if you want to share you have to make sure you decline the extra food and tell them you're sharing, not splitting.

I agree with the PP, let the server know you are sharing a meal, that way you don't get charged a fee. At CO if you split say the Monte Cristo then you'll each get a plate with half the sandwich and a full serving of the grapes/strawberries and charged the fee. In Aug DH and I shared this so one plate was brought out with the food and an extra small plate, no fee.

Thanks for the info and helpful hints. So it sounds like we need to be sure to say we are sharing, not splitting. And yes, Cafe Orleans is definitely one of the places that we are considering sharing a meal, so good to know we will have to use the correct terminology there to avoid the fee!

No dining plan at DL. You can order an adult meal for your kids and have them share. It's adults ordering kids meals they frown on. Again, just be sure to say they're sharing, not splitting. Or don't say anything. Just order the meals you want and ask for extra plates.
